Entertaining

Special Ops: Lioness had me hooked from the very first episode. This is another great series by the mastermind that is Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, 1923, 1883, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Landman, etc). I would watch this series if I knew nothing more than Sheridan created it. Then add in the fact of all the star power starring in it...Zoe Saldana, Morgan Freeman, Nicole Kidman, Michael Kelly, Genesis Rodriguez, etc. While this isn't the best show from Sheridan, it's still very entertaining and worth watching. Yes, some of it's unbelievable but if you can just turn your brain off and enjoy it for what it is you'll have a good time watching this. The only negative so far is that you have to wait a week between episodes, I like it better when they release the whole season at one time so you can binge it.

Definitely Worth Watching

Being a Taylor Sheridan fan I've been looking forward to Lioness ever since I first heard about it. Then I saw the trailers and my excitement grew. This is definitely another hit in a long line of hits for Sheridan. It seems like almost everything he does is terrific. This follows the story of Joe (Zoe Saldana) who works for the CIA and their war on terror. As she struggles to balance her personal and professional lives she recruits an undercover operative named Cruz (Laysla De Oliveira) into the Lioness Program to work alongside her in stopping some terrorists, then in season 2 the two of them recruit a new Lioness (Genesis Rodriguez) to stop a bunch of new bad guys. I just finished season 2 and actually liked it more than the first. I'm looking forward to more seasons of this in the near future, especially if they're as good as this second season. Morgan Freeman, Nicole Kidman, Michael Kelly, Jill Wagner, Dave Annable and LaMonica Garrett also star in the terrific series.

Well what can I say?

Just binged both seasons back-to-back, and you're in for a treat! "Lioness" is a gripping blend of action, drama, and emotional depth. The storytelling is sharp, and the characters are complex, drawing you into their world of high-stakes missions and personal struggles. With incredible performances and intense pacing, it's a must-watch that keeps you on edge throughout!

If you're a film junkie like myself then you'll appreciate the time and effort that Taylor Sheridan and everyone else put in to make this happen.

I enjoyed it. Not my place to say where it could have been improved. It is what it is.

Thank you.

Gripping, beautiful, action and pain

I was hooked episode one as the show navigates through the lives of a small few defending their personal lives and upholding the honor to their country. It's conflicting, motivating, painful, beautiful, heartbreaking and more all one episode after another with heart stopping action. It's what Yellowstone is for ranchers, it's the heartbeat to the CIA through a small window. I started initially and wasn't able to really pay attention. Round two 15 min in I knew I made the right decision to come back to it. After serving you get a small understanding of how much you really don't know but makes you proud just still knowing what's being done for you while most sleep. Highly recommend for anyone who loves a great plot, death, amazing acting and fast paced action.

Obligatory angry teenager absolutely pointless and exasperating

Why, why do they always insist on having one teen character who is continuously angry and acts irrationally? It has *never* done any TV show any good. Zoe Saldana's daughter is full-on stereotype, all the sorry-arse angry teenager tropes bundled in one character. One minute you are watching a show about secret operatives in the Middle East, the next you are subjected to never-ending scenes of family turmoil caused by one selfish teenager that *no one in the world cares about*.

My advice: fast forward all the scenes where she appears. They add absolutely nothing - zip - nada - zilch to the storyline. Skipping them will do wonders for your blood pressure.

Lioness is a great conspiracy action drama

Lioness has good storylines, cinematography and action all blended into a great entertaining show. Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman and the rest of actors do a great job in selling the urgency and conspiracy of each plot. The military action is great and as an american I love to see the good guys win and of course the missions although difficult are accomplished.

Taylor Sheridan has great writing expressing political realities that has caused many american to wake up to the media's news manipulation or should we say the government using the media as a weapon to keep its citizens oblivious as to the true reality. Make you wonder that even thoigh it may be fiction there is some reality mixed into the stories.

By the end of the series it leaves the viewer wanting for more. Waiting for next season.

Show is cool. The "tough-woman" overacting is exhausting

Only a couple episodes in. I'm enjoying the vibe. Action packed, decent storyline, and I'm yearning for that sicario feel (TSheridan). It has that rhythm. The lady leads and their overacting-tough-persona is exhausting. Can the show PLEASE make me believe they are true professionals? Please? Do I have to endure the quips and bitchy one-liners? Can being "tough" also mean being smooth, gathered, poised...yet deadly?

I'll keep watching and I'll enjoy. I just haven't been able to become immersed, due to the unnatural writing and overacting.

The star power is pretty solid also. Casting assembled an agreeable group of actors that illustrate government hierarchy and agent leads. That's a good move.

Gripping

I've put off watching this for a while and after finally catching up it's been utterly brilliant. Seems that some are not so keen which I don't understand. A powerful group of woman doing an incredibly difficult job at great personal expense. Can't wait to watch Season 2 which seems to have had much better reviews. Zoe Saldana as ever is outstanding especially when balancing her work and personal life but the big reveal is Oliveira. Her rage seeps through the entire show making her such a captivating character. I can't wait to see what she does next. Hopefully this will be renewed for Season 3!

Entertaining, but generic action TV.

The action is good, the pacing is good. Acting for the most part is also good. There's a lot of things going on outside the main story that has no relation to the main plot.

The family part of one of the main character could be viewed as character development but a lot happens there that could have just been binned and it wouldn't have affected the storyline in any way.

There are also some parts regarding some bombs, I won't go into much details because I don't want to spoil anything but why is that story there, who knows. It isn't related to the main plot, it does nothing for character building.

And what is up with Nicole kidman's character's husband? He is just bizarre!

The story is entertaining though, the pacing is good.

If you thought season 1 made no sense, introducing season 2

If mindless action and silly plots are your thing, this is definitely your bag, baby. For being an "elite" special ops unit, I've never seen so much ineptitude, as this has no semblance of reality. If you think this series is a 10, you're 12. Reckless tactics, a leader that is seriously mental, and cue in the 100lb females that can beat up 220lb, jacked dudes. It's more terrible than the Charlie's Angels reboot and about as realistic as Ren and Stimpy. For some reason, the writers think that shots of Zoe Saldana's bare naked ass and nipples poking thru her tank tops will make up for poor writing. Yes, you're hot, Zoe, a hot mess. That only goes so far for viewers above high school age, the rest of need some substance to keep us entertained.

But standby, season 2 gets worse. S02E02 adds a female "officer" that has more attitude than the entire cast of The View. She's dishonest to boot and lies to her new boss from the get go. What could possibly go wrong? She's the most unprofessional soldier I've ever seen, let alone a commissioned officer and I spent over 10 years in the service. If she was a real soldier, she'd be manning a solo mission radar station in Greenland at a minimum, if she wasn't on permanent trash detail at Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary. Lioness takes the cake as a fantasy S!!T show for the brain-dead, air-soft, call of duty crowd. In fact, when one of the "Operators" refers to using a red dot sight as, "yeah, exactly like Call of Duty", say no more. Hard pass.

Slick, exciting action flick

This has just enough personal story lines to raise it above the level of the garden variety action picture. I find Zoe Saldana's character a bit one dimensional and the uber macho overcompensation gets old, as does the constant dropping of the f bomb. I'm not a prude, but using it like punctuation gets irritating. Nicole Kidman was an interesting choice and she pulls off the American accent pretty well, although she's clearly struggling with it. And what on earth have the make-up people done with her eyebrows?! It was very distracting. Michael Kelly is always hits it out of the park and this was no exception. Definitely worth a watch both for the adrenalin fueled action and the compelling storyline.

Very enjoyable show, binge worthy, lotsa testosterone but no man on man action, yet plenty of lesbian romance

I loved the cast and very entertaining story and plots. I was rather disappointed with so much macho testosterone there was no gay romance, yet there was plenty of contrived lesbian romance. I'm not complaint, just seemed lop sided. I think this show was made for straight dudes with that kind of fantasy. But still I liked it a lot.

I was so glad season 2 had most of the cast come back especially.the character of Cruz. My only critique is that the husband Neal's surgery drama stories although were there, seemed pushed aside in season 2. I don't wanna give spoilers But gotta be honest his situations at the hospital were pretty intense emotionally. Like gut wrenching.

Suspend your disbelief and this becomes entertaining

From the start, "Lioness" sets itself apart from the other Taylor Sheridan productions running at the same time - "Yellowstone," "Tulsa King," and the rest. You can tell this is the one he truly cares about. The dialogue is fast, the plots are layered, and the characters have depth. It's a big-budget production with big names - Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman. And at the center, Zoe Saldana, delivering a performance with force. She's not playing the typical Sheridan eye candy. She's tough, determined, and carrying something extra - a need to prove herself. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it feels like she's trying a little too hard. Maybe that's the point. Maybe it's part of the character. Either way, the weight she's carrying is noticeable.

The series has its wins. The supporting cast - especially Two Cups and Bobby - brings good vibes and energy. The action is solid. The cinematography works. The family subplot? Less so. The military realism? Take it with a grain of salt. But if you let go of the details, let yourself sink into the story, "Lioness" will hold you to the end.

THAT'S IT?

It is Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan wanna be make over.

The plot is the weakest i have seen in ages, the girl who is supposed to "blend in" always looked like she just out of a bar fight and somehow the highly secured target detail didnt think anything of it like what??????

Even the idea of questioning the intentions and implications of the mission at the end was just there to make you give it 2 stars instead of one.

Dialogue is weak, characters are weak, and the plot is the worst.

If I was you I wouldn't even waste my time.

The one star really was for morgan freeman (for the two minutes of screentime he god anyway)

The best lies are wrapped in truth

Great espionage genre show with exceptional writing. Strong performances from leading characters with a sprinkling of Sheridan here and there.

Initially I thought it would be a corny show but it's anything but that. Season 1 is serious, all business with realism and some complexity in the main character.

Also, here and there this show highlights the bigger picture of the reality of the situation in the Middle East. Wrapped in fictional characters and strong performances if you're listening the messaging is clear. Sometimes what may seem like the obvious moral truth is wrapped in a sea of complexity and greater consequences.

Amazing series

Honestly this is probably one of the best series out right now there is nothing like it on TV and it has a great cast lineup it has enough dose of action and drama so you can watch it husband and wife together it's not just a full action series. I would highly recommend this to anybody of the service in the background or anybody that likes action movies and definitely give it a try with your spouse there is enough women in it keep your spouse rooting for them.

Nicole Kidman brings a great addition to this. Along with several cast members that came from the TV show Yellowstone make sure you check this out.

Intense

Season 1 was very very good and intense. Season 2 was incredible. All of the actors play their parts to a tee. Taylor Sheridan is just great with these types of shows and movies. I couldn't stop watching it. Obviously none of us will know how accurate the stories are but they feel truly authentic and there is legitimate tension throughout the season so much so that you know that no character or situation is safe. Saldana is excellent again in her role and Kelly is one of my favorite character actors. He never disappoints.

If you love gray areas with movies and shows like this it gets no better. And the twists all feel real and not manufactured and you really do not see how this is going to end. Hope there is a season three but you are emotionally spent after this one.

everyone is unlikeable

I would give this series a much higher rating if the characters weren't so unlikeable. Both female leads were unlikeable, saldana's daughter was unlikeable. The guy who asked her a favor was unlikeable. The senators were unlikeable. Both guys who tried to SA the unlikeable asset were unlikeable. The husband to be was unlikeable. Honestly the only likeable person there was the target and his daughter. The plot was so thin they had to make some weird issue about the daughter as time-filler. Come on, this is lame. The kid still had a good dad. Her kid's ahole personality isn't because she's always away. That's prolly inborn.

Suspend all belief. But even that maybe isn't enough.

I'm a fan of yellowstone & most of Taylor Sheridan's work.

This however is a step too far.

Now obviously things need to go wrong to develop the plot, but wow! This group of apparent Special operatives are inept. They muck up every op they undertake. From the opening scene of letting the insurgents start attacking before they realise they might be bad guys to the ridiculous decision to use an unlikeable miserable woman (the main character) to make friends with a lively party going target.

I would happily just go along with it if it wasn't for the fact this stuff is supposed to be taken seriously.

Others here have already stated the main lead is painted as some kind of supergirl. And that is correct. She's like a terminator!

My main issue though is that she's really unlikeable.
