This was on TV tonight. I had to give it a try because of the enormous disparity between the overall IMDB rating and the reviews here.
When I checked it was rated 2.8. Not many films are ranked that low. I took a look at the reviews, there were 11 of them and they were all rave reviews that rated the film with 9 or 10 stars. Quite a separation, don't you think?
So I thought let's see which is right. It did not take long. I must admit I did not get past the first 15 minutes of the film. The script was lame and predictable and the acting was far worse.
I can only assume that the other reviews were written by people involved the production, or their friends and families, Avoid this one like the plague.

This is such a lovely story by Joy Hopwood, whose talent in choosing and casting the actors results in this gorgeous film. The actors are so credible and have a great connection with each other - beautifully matched. Comedy runs through the movie which adds another dimension to the tale of love and there is always a message in Joy's films. Life is short - you only one road to walk, so make the most of it!
The music is so appealing and the characters deliver authentic roles which keeps you wanting more and more.
It is highly recommended. You come out feeling happy! Highly recommend it! Joy is a star!

Had a good time hearing all the songs. The actors had good chemistry and the pacing was fast.
It nice to see the director put her heart into this. Her sense of humour shows in the film. Anyone who wants a quick romantic comedy will like this.

What happens when you have a rom-com with no real romance, no real comedy, and a script that feels like it was written in one afternoon? You get Get a Life, Alright!
This film tries to sell itself as a charming behind-the-scenes tale of fame and falling in love, but it lands with all the finesse of a high school drama assignment. The dialogue is cringeworthy, the plot painfully thin, and the characters - if you can even call them that - are so one-dimensional they might as well be cardboard cutouts. Every twist is predictable, every moment drenched in cliché.
It's baffling how something with such a strong claim to diversity and industry insight could feel so hollow. There's no tension, no spark, and absolutely no reason to care. The title says it all - this film needs to get a life, alright. Or at least a rewrite.

A hilarious film, recreating a Bollywood-esque theme in a non-Bollywood world. Director Joy Hopwood has left her signature mark in this quirky, over-the-top romantic comedy; the story clearly making the distinction of what is morally right and wrong across a number of social contexts.
Dilshan Rain as Adarsh Singh was very convincing as the "villainous" brother, leaving audiences seething. And Aileen Huynh as Sarah Chen, gave another great performance, exuding warmth and strength in her role as supportive friend and diversity advocate.
A feel-good story that highlights the need for diversity within the Australian entertainment industry.
