The Diabetes Solution

Overall I think the documentary is incredibly important because it offers a realistic take on diabetes and points out that it has become (or always has been) commoditized. It gives you an inside look at how people commonly mistreat their diabetes and casually pass it off. There are a lot of anecdotes from doctors and nurses that are important to understanding how people live with it. Also deserving of mentioning is how society tends to subliminally advertise diabetes (carbohydrates) on every commercial and street corner.

In reality this should be trending on Netflix but instead it is behind a paywall--- ? I know there are other documentaries that say the same thing but the testimonials of the parents really speak to the viewer. Especially if you have a kid or a friend with Diabetes.

Highly recommended.

What is depicted is NOT the proper or safe way to manage diabetes. This does not explore any other method than consuming industrial levels of ultra-rapid insulin, then eating industrial levels of fast carbs. Using more insulin and eating junk-food is good for BigPharma. This is like a tug-of-war between two Monster Trucks with your blood glucose level as the flag in the center. Should your metabolism change for any reason (cold/flu, high exercise, menstruation, etc), then one of those Monster Trucks is going into the bleachers and you are in trouble that requires swift correction.

The safer way, per my experience and MANY others, is less carbs (and slower carbs) and less amount of a regular insulin (slower acting)-- making it more a tug-of-war between two golf-carts. Should your metabolism change, then one of those golf-carts is only going to roll a few yards, giving you more time to react/correct.... and so is much safer "Funny" that this dangerous "advice" portrayed here has the same title as the book by Dr. Bernstein (an 80+ y/o T1D with zero complications), which outlines a FAR more sensible approach.

Carbs are poison, especially for diabetics.

The quality of the production is not great, and i particularly hated how the trailer gave no hint of the solution .. this is no click baiting material, its not a thriller.. people need the information and need it immediately.

As a diabetic I'm a bit shocked with some of the interviews from parents about their children getting diabetes. This isn't the 1900s and people in these interviews seem more interested in taking photos of their kids and getting the chance to socialise it like it's cool. It isn't and it also doesn't need a documentary. It's simple. Eat healthy. Work out and nowadays you don't even have to prick a finger. Not saying it ain't hard to hear but looking at these people talking about it but happily taking there social media photos really really gets my goat. And this one women who developed every effect possible must be thick, cause anyone getting that wouldn't just Carry on without checking it out properly, diabetic or not. Stupid.

This is an important voice on the topic of managing Type 1 Diabetes. The goal of this documentary is to spread the word about this treatment option. Therapeutic carbohydrate reduction as one of the tools to manage Type 1 Diabetes should be introduced at the time of diagnosis, just like insulin is.

I hope this documentary will help with educating patients, their families and providers.

I speak from my personal and professional experience. I have type 1 diabetes and I am an endocrinologist with a focus on Type 1 Diabetes management. The message many are still receiving " eat everything, just take insulin for it" is very misleading and harmful.

Quality of this documentary is superb. Not an easy task to stay under one hour. Nicely done! I recommend it to ALL people living with type 1 Diabetes!
