One Week 'Til Doomsday

This doc is a flawed yet perfect encapsulation of America, offering a raw and authentic look at the diverse tapestry of its people and landscapes. The characters encountered along the journey are real, weird, and educational, each contributing to the rich mosaic of stories that unfold. It feels like a blend of the heartfelt nomadic spirit of "Nomadland" and the spontaneous, comedic energy of "Billy on the Street." A true lucky find this was for me one night at home.

Bob the Drag Queen was profound and truly shone as a star, bringing a magnetic presence and depth to the narrative. Malcolm brought wisdom and insight, offering thoughtful reflections that added layers of meaning to the trip. Connor Malbeuf, despite not knowing his comedy, brought a wild and unpredictable nature to the journey, held his own admirably, providing honest and relatable moments that grounded the experience. I believed he cared - which is half the battle in these doc-follows.

While it may not have the polish of a big-budget film, its charm lies in its honesty, realism, humor, and sincerity. The imperfections only add to its authenticity, making it a genuine portrayal of the American experience. The humor is both sharp and heartfelt, with moments that will make you laugh out loud and others that will touch your soul. I would have loved a stronger ending, but that is my only note.

I loved every minute of it. This production is a testament to the beauty of real, unfiltered storytelling, capturing the essence of America in all its complexity and wonder. It's an honest and endearing journey that invites viewers to see the country through a fresh and unvarnished lens.

I rented this movie for Bob and was NOT disappointed... he is so funny and SO smart. I learned a lot of things about America in this doc. Well done... I cried way more than I thought I would!!!

I loved seeing Texas small town drag queens represented in this. With all the horrible things happening around the country, this little indie film is a reminder that good stories deserve a platform to be shared. I hope you watch this - we were surprised truthfully. Also shows how we dodged a bullet my gosh darn it.

The film is straightforward and engaging. Funny even. While it does not necessarily push the political envelope, it scratches a certain itch one may feel for a light political film. Highlights for me was seeing Malcolm and Bob. For an art house film, it stands tall.

This film I got the pleasure of seeing in Toronto at the premiere and loved every minute. I was shocked at how many times I choked up because of the immigration parts.... so sad and captured well. If you love politics, watch this!
