Alien: Planeta Tierra

I get the fact you'd send in the Space Marines to investigate a colony not answering the phone after you find a crazy woman in a space lifeboat telling you a crazier story about an Alien killing all her pals and she blows up the mothership. But an Earth made spacecraft crash lands with no warning on Earth and you send in search and rescue with guns? A person is on fire and no one in the search and rescue helps to put the fire out? We need to see the pulse rifles for Disney Nostalgia sake. They bought the franchise and that's what Disney thinks we need. I'm tapping out. Learn from Romulus and just rewatch Alien, Aliens Alien3 and Alien Resurrection. I don't want to be this disappointed. I want to enjoy this series. The folks who made this more than likely made Alien Earth in good faith but I'm sure there is some Disney crony looking over the shoulder of the creator and saying "You know what will be so cool? Pulse Rifles. We know our audience."

The characters don't work, the pacing is off, the music choices are questionable, and I am a huge Tool fan. It all feels so forced and despite my love of the Alien universe, I feel that not only does this deliver the suspense and feel of the movies it fails at even providing likeable characters, and their motivation, besides "brother" and "your ship crashed into my building, so yeah". And the anachronisms, I lost count before the end of the first episode.

I was quite excited for this show, I have been left thoroughly disappointed.

I'm a huge fan of the alien franchise. Was so hyped for this. Especially after alien Romulus, everyone I know loved that movie.

The good: The concept is very cool, human/android hybrids. Some creature designs are cool, and SOME of the effects look great

The bad: Everything else

The plot makes no sense, the characters are hard to like/warm to. It just feels like a forced cash grab. This honestly feels like a high budget B rated movie you watch on a random sci fi channel at 2am for background noise.

It's a sci-fi and for whatever reason the writers just don't seem too aware of that. It's the year 2120 and apparently surveillance/drones aren't a thing. The key for getting a show like this to work is to create a world that the watcher believes in. The world they've built doesn't achieve that at all.

Anytime Disney is involved It's like good writing takes a backseat due to other "agendas". I'm sure criticaldrinker would understand.

Only two episodes in and my hopes are very low, I will try to watch until the end of the first season. But I get the feeling watching paint dry in a dark room would be far more productive.

Also, reviews on here must be fake/paid for, there is literally no way the reviews on here are real I don't believe it.

As an alien fan for 40+ years, I was hopeful that this series could finally revive the franchise. However, what made Alien great was suspense. What made Aliens awesome was action (and a sublime cast, script, and director). Whoever wrote and directed this has completely missed what makes the franchise great; instead, they think it's about horror about grossing people out. They're going for cheap scares and have just completely missed what makes the franchise great. Sad. Hoping it picks up, but based on the direction the series is going, I hold no hopes.

I've just finished the first two episodes. As a fan of the original movie and being in my fifties, this series is definitely not for me. It's got none of the suspense, tension or build of the original, a weird teen genius who eats apples and appears to be a moron, super-fast synthetic children in adult form who move painfully slowly at all times. Sorry but I just found the whole thing utterly ridiculous.

Also - it's still just set in a spaceship, it just happens to be crashed into the side of a building.

Very disappointing.
