Gideon wields an electrostaff, akin to those wielded by the MagnaGuard droids in Star Wars: Episodio III - La venganza de los sith (2005) and the various Star Wars projects involving Purge Troopers, which are elite stormtroopers in black lightsaber-resistant armor that support the Inquisitors and are trained to hunt and kill Jedi. They are best known as one of the main antagonists in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019). Electrostaffs were designed for single combat against lightsaber-wielding opponents. Their blades generate a powerful electromagnetic field capable of blocking the plasma blade of a lightsaber, which is what allows Gideon to counter Bo-Katan's Darksaber.

The score is noticeably worse than in season 2, but it's not all. The story just wasn't there. I'm concerned for the future of this show honestly leaving myself wondering if ending at Season 2 would've been best.

I'm not a Star Wars fatalist like many, and usually like all that comes our way, but this didn't feel like Star Wars. I know that's a stupid statement but it's true. It felt more marvel-esc with its thin plot and rather tasteless fight scenes.

The season took too long to not get anywhere, and an eight episode season should be quick moving without the random side quests season 3 took us on.
