A biographic film about Mother Petra San José well played by Marian Arahuetes . The latter is acceptable as the founder of the Madres de Desamparados and San José de la Montaña Congregation. Petra San José shows her hard effort, confrontation, and fights to help hopeless people. Accompanying her, a good plethora of mostly unknown actors, though there are some slightly known players as Assumpta Serna, Emilio Linder and Gonzalo Cañás who often appear in director Pablo Moreno's films.
The biographical story was well-paced decently directed by Pablo Moreno. It is worthwhile seeing thanks the effort and will with which Pablo proceeds his works. He usually has low or medium budgets, but manages skillfully directing adequate films , developed in a simple and slight way, providing atmospheric settings and appropriate narration. Pablo also made other religious, biographical and reflection movies, such as "Pablo de Tarso", "Alba", "A un Dios Prohibido", "Guadalupe: Madre de la humanidad", "La Sirvienta (The maid)" , "Luz de Soledad" and this "Petra de San José".
Adding life remarks about Petra San José (1845-1906), she was a notorious nun founder of congregation of the Mothers of the Forsaken and promover of the construcción of the Royal Sanctuary of Saint Joseph of the Mountain in Barcelona, she was beatificated by Pope John Paul II . Along the way, she opened asylums, hospitals and House of the Poor. Ana was assigned to the Vélez hospital, whose condition was terrible, then nuns and novices gave up their beds to the sick and dedicated themselves to caring and cleaning for the disgraced people. Bishop of Málaga received Ana , and urge her to found her own congregation , suggesting do so under the patronage of Our Lady of the Forsaken.
