The Next Gotta-Have-It

I found "The Next "Gotta Have It" to be very clever.

The props were well thought-out (particularly the use of the dolls). The actors were hilarious, from the boss, to his assistant and of course, the cast of desperate underlings- some demonstrating corporate professionalism, others pure desperation, all pitching ideas and products that combine the exploitation of current and historical events with classic toys of the 60s, 70s and 80s. The range of emotions demonstrated by the lead actors flowed nicely with the story. The accompanying music complemented the evolution of the characters and the story. It was shot well and the scenes and montage meshed very well (some real funny stuff in the latter I thought).

Its a comedy that is slightly edgy but not profane, clever but not overly sophisticated. If you have a good sense of humor and a good sense of pop culture you can appreciate it. It has a cross-generational appeal; you can be a fan of either the Three Stooges, Hogans Heroes or Triumpth The Insult Comic Dog and enjoy this one.

I saw this film at a screening in NYC. It was up right before my friend's movie that I was there for. I was just going to get popcorn while waiting but I decided to sit through it. This was one cleverly funny movie! The acting is awesome. The writing is crisp.

It was primarily one location for the entire 17 minutes but it held my interest completely. It's one of the best shorts I've seen since film school. For the jokes, they poked fun at some easy targets like Paris Hilton but it worked because some of the great props they had. (Can't say more!)

If I had to find a negative I would say that the first half felt a little long, but the thing picked up speed, particularly in the last five minutes.

Most short films never see the light of day (unless it's Pixar or done by a celebroty) or at best they turn up amongst the garbage on youtube shot in someone's basement for people with attention deficit disorder. It's too bad.

I thoroughly enjoyed this short. Within its length of 20 minutes, it had a nice structure to it that kept the story moving along. But most importantly, it was damn funny, and that's really the best way to rate a comedy. I look forward to seeing what the makers of this short do in the future, as they are definitely ones to watch.

I think this could actually make a good sitcom as well.

If you get a chance to check this out, I urge you do so. You'll have a few laughs at the VERY least. So check it out.

Saw the film at a screening in Manhattan. It made me laugh right away and had me laughing throughout.

I was amazed at the high production quality of this short film. It had a great look on the screen which complemented the story well. Great attention to the details and staging needed to pull off a good comedy.

The new product pitches that they have in the office conference room are great. You have to watch the facial reactions of the cast especially Mr. Big he is hysterical. I almost could not believe some of the products that got pitched and the If you like to laugh give this one a try.
