This Film is Freaking Mess, the writing is awful, it's rushed, its just fictionalized version of Aileen's life, Farrands should be Ashamed of the the films he makes and Poor Peyton she honestly deserved better, she's an excellent actress but she didn't need to be in this movie, Peyton should get on the phone and have a word with her agent.
I really don't understand the point of this movie, why they even made it. It's almost as if they had another script with just a run-of-the-mill thriller and then just attached Aileens name to it. Nothing about this movie is true to life except for the fact that yes, Aileen has been married to a millionaire at one point, and the relationship ended after she hit this older man with his own walking cane. This movie is such a tragedy since the girl playing Aileen actually does a very good job at it. This entire movie is just a treasure trove of missed opportunity. They pitched it as a "prequel" to the movie Monster but then why not also make it that? For instance they had her brother in there for maybe a few minutes, but there was more to that story. She did not kill her brother like this movie suggests, she loved her brother, a lot. Then there is her youth, her up bringing, everything that they just did not use for this story. At all. If you want to learn all about Aileen I suggest you check out the documentaries "The Selling of a serial killer" and "Life and death of a serial killer" both by the same creator. I wish the creators of this movie had seen those documentaries and used the information in them. This movie could have been great, instead we're stuck now with this work of fiction that watches more like a soap opera. Its made up, it isn't real, and it even does a very poor job at that.
For anyone even vaguely interested in the real story - or even interested in real writing and acting - do yourself a favour and watch Monster (2003).
In the 2003 movie, the producers/writers/director went to great lengths to make sure the movie was guided by real facts, and picked a cast capable of delivering performances so strong that at times it seemed more like a documentary.
American Boogeywoman by contrast delivers little more than you'd expect to find in gossip magazines, with production/writing/acting more at home in "Days of Our Lives" than in a movie.
Seriously, give this one a miss.

Just before her execution, Aileen Wuornos told Nick Broomfield, the British film maker who documented her life with hundreds of hours of tape and believed she was so mentally ill that the State of Florida was killing a child that, ºThey will all make money on me when I'm gone."
This film is proof. It's a disgusting exploitation of the life of a woman who suffered through a childhood that would make Dickens weep. It does nothing to elevate the lives of the men she killed nor does it show the way Wuornos herself was failed by child welfare services and her defense attorney.
Too soon, folks. Too soon. The earnest young actress tries to save it. But too soon.
Skip it. Watch "Monster," or Brookfield's outstanding "Aileen Wuornos: The Selling of a Serial Killer,"

Because the truth wasn't bad enough they had to fabricate large parts of the story? Whoever made this apparently flunked out of film school. The writing, acting and cinematography are terrible.
¿Sabías que...?
- CuriosidadesIn the beginning segments of it showing the flashbacks of murders, the scene in the car at 2:20 is from the movie "Monster" where Charlize Theron played Aileen Wuornos.
- PifiasWhen they go sailing, off the Florida coast, there are mountains visible in the background. Florida doesn't have any mountains anywhere.
