Where the Merrows Roam in a word is breath-taking. The director Colin Hickey has a unique talent and ability to bring the audience on a profound journey through his use of the simple yet most beautiful images and a wonderful score.

Where the Merrow Roam allowed this viewer to get lost in the most breath-taking scenery - from landscapes, seascapes, and forests to city skylines. This film afforded me the opportunity to return to the many carefree and happy childhood summers spent playing in hay fields with friends and heading off on adventures.

This is a film that must be experienced, and each individual viewer will interpret as they wish. Hickey is a truly outstanding director who is evidently not afraid to take risks and stay true to his own unique film-making style.

A beautifully poignant film, capturing the essence of the of an Irish country summer. There is a nostalgia captured in the scenes but also hope. Really interesting soundtrack which adds to the overall experience. Well worth a watch.

This film carries you along an ethereal journey from childhood to adulthood in a collage of beautiful images through tranquil Irish land and seascapes . Still life images and portraits flow along , creating at times intense and provocative , other times dreamlike scenes that stay with the viewer to ponder, long after the film ends. The accompanying exquisite score creates at times rapidly changing mood , adding to the film's intrigue , compelling the viewer to engage. Well worth watching.

Much like Hickey's previous film, 'Evening Redness in the South' this film is a feast for the senses. It is a slow burn but the use of striking cinematography coupled with the provocative and perfectly timed score ensures a truly immersive experience for the viewer. The storyline meanders and by the time the final credits rolled I was left with much to reflect upon. The acting seemed raw and authentic and fitted in with the rustic and wild environment portrayed in the film.

A strange, odd and haunting film with rewards a plenty for those who are patient. It forgoes a conventional narrative and uses it's music score to punctuate the visuals. An original and challenging piece, Hickey is definitely a filmmaker to watch.
