This film is about an out of place real estate agent named Sam (Jet Jandreau) and her Joe Dirt looking Husband Travis (Michael Emery) living in a small Washington town. When a shady looking character by the name of Peter (Kevin Spacey) shows up asking questions about Sam's past. The film also stars Rebecca De Mornay (Brenda) Jake Weber (Lock) Garrett Smith (Grant). The film is written and directed by Michael Zaiko Hall, who did a poor job in my opinion. If this was how Kevin Spacey was to make his comeback it was a major swing and miss. The plot which was fine but it was overshadowed by such poor acting and overacting as well. A community theater production could have done a better job. At times I thought maybe they were trying to make it so bad in attempt it to be good. Such a waste of talent not sure what they were thinking when they signed up for this role. Disappointing.
I read a review in which the author wrote: "The acting is at times poor and at times exaggerated" (something in these lines) and then ranted about not understanding what kind of comeback this was for Kevin Spacey.
This movie shows us the present reality of cinema: inexperienced people, who know jack about writing and/or directing, and are given money to make a movie.
As many recent films: good idea; not a bad script; horrible execution.
I thought the leading actress must have been picked for her talent, because she has the dullest, inexpressive face I have seen in years... but then I "dug up" the "director's" history, and they have collaborated previously. So there's a shocker!
I don't think there is bad or overacting... I just think that the parts are too much for everybody, and too little for Rebecca de Mornay (another story for Hardcore Surgery Specials) and Kevin Spacey.
He does not overact... the part is ridiculous and he tries to make it good. He fails, because, as we say in Portugal, there's no tip from where to grab the part...
I understand why he took it. It's not his comeback, and whoever says this, know nothing about movies, actors and getting railroaded inconsequentially.
He took it, because he has to get back to work, and it seemed like a good way to start, but again we have to go back to the amateur who directed this, who came from Visual Effects something position, in some, actually, rather popular films.
I was really looking forward to this after "Control" (where he was a brilliant voice/character), but I am disappointed, because a bad director wastes a good cast.
The climax is absurd, at best... The ending is interesting, because it leaves You wondering, and that's, as far as I am concerned, positive.
I don't blame Kevin Spacey... I get Rebbeca de Mornay... I loathe the rest (of the people and movie).
This could have been a lot better!

When films are following a generic formula, they're often neither great nor terrible, just.. generic. This is the exception however; it's not generic, it's baaaad.
The set pieces are poorly executed and it looks like they spent the budget on Kevin's hairpiece (they should look for a refund) and the acting is nothing short of abysmal.
It's a funny duck you have Jake Weber, Kevin Spacey and. Rebecca De Mornay; three actors that it wouldn't be a massive stretch of the imagination to call them veterans, yet they just aren't good here - not good at all.
All I can say is that this is not a fun film; in fact, it's not even a watchable film.
Avoid.

Peter 5:8 KJV: "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour"
It kicks off like amateur hour. Affectation creeps in as if someone is trying to sell something cheap as much more valuable. At one point it looks like it is going to turn into a David Lynch film. Something big seems to be going on, with millions of dollars being transferred to the Kevin Spacey character. In the end, it's all just pointless: the Bible quote, the devil, the guilt, the hitman. Nothing adds up. There is no thrill, no intrigue, no action, no (dark) humor. The bloated Kevin Spacey is quite unappealing. Actually going with the idea that this is just a parable, with Spacey as the devil, will make the whole film look even more ridiculous.
Hope. What can get you through this movie is hope. The hope that it will turn into something better. The love for Kevin Spacey, Rebecca De Mornay or Jet Jandreau. A deep faith in religious movies. But first and foremost hope.

Up to 2017, Kevin Spacey at the world at his feet in the movies, theatre and television. A multiple award winner, he was in demand.
Then after some sexual assault allegations. It all went sour. His turn in the movie, All the Money in the World saw his performance reedited at the last minute by director Ridley Scott. His replacement Christopher Plummer got an Oscar nomination.
Peter Five Eight is Spacey's first starring role in seven years. This is a low budget independent feature. Major movie companies will still not touch him.
Spacey gives a loud broad performance as charismatic hitman with the codename Peter Five Eight. Hired by Lock (Jake Weber) to find real estate agent named Sam (Jet Jandreau) who is running away from her past.
In order to find her, he charms Brenda (Rebecca De Mornay) to find out just who is who in a town full of eccentrics, yokels and hicks.
Peter Five Eight is an absurd noirish crime film. It went straight to streaming and outside of Spacey, there is little to recommend it. The acting and story is all over the place.

¿Sabías que...?
- CuriosidadesRebecca DeMornay's line 'In the beginning, god created man, but then god had a better idea.' is reminiscent of the 1988 pseudo remake of 'And God Created Women' in which she starred.
- PifiasThe New Testament quote at the beginning of the movie, which also provides the movie's title, is cited as "Peter 5:8" but it should be "1 Peter 5:8". There are two letters of Peter, not simply one, and this quote is from the first letter.
