When compared to other "album-accompanying-films", this one is one of, if not, the best.
"There's not much story", many tout in their reviews. This is incorrect. The story is very clear, concise, and to the point, hence the 53 minute runtime.
Anyone who didn't understand this was a period drama of a queen accused simply wasn't paying enough attention. The story is very laid out even in the "vague" moments.
"Too much up for interpretation" For the album itself? Eh I could see that. Lyrical content is always up for interpretation. The film itself? Again, not much up for interpretation when it's very clear and concise (if one is actually paying attention). I don't understand people who say things like this.
Hell, I'm autistic, many things are confusing to me/bother me when up to too much interpretation. But the story here is very clear, even when it waivers in its "point", so everyone saying "it's confusing" are confusing, in turn, to me.
Also, as the title suggests, when this opens, it's clearly labeled a "FILM EXPERIENCE", so yet again everyone here saying "not much of a film", it isn't supposed to be a direct film. It s a film EXPERIENCE set with Halsey's music. It's that simple.
If you're not a fan of Halsey, Nine Inch Nails, or album-movie tie in's, this isn't really for you anyway. *shrug*.
To the people complaining they are "disappointed", you have no one to blame but yourselves. Hype is made from one's mind. Go into something with the wrong expectations you're obviously not going to like it.
And to circle back to the "interpretation" thing from early, why is "too up for interpretation" necessarily a bad thing? Do we REALLY need everything spelled out for us left and right? No. No we do not. Things are often more powerful when left up to one's own interpretation.
Recommended 100% for Halsey fans since that is truly who this is for anyway.
Hopefully this gets her some new fans as the album and film are phenomenal and deserving of praise.

I really like what she did for her first film/movie experience but... I do find myself being a little bored at times. I love the concept she went for being a queen through marriage and the aftermath. I also like how she ended the film but it just needs needs a little more added to the story. Really love the music she choose for this and hope she decides to make another one.
The costumes, makeup and imagery held me captivated thru the film. But the story (was there supposed to be one?) was barely there.
I get that you are supposed to let the gorgeous display and great music carry the show and it does to some effect, but I needed a bit more clarity to the story flow if we are calling this a movie. If meant as just a video experience, I'd have rated higher. But this is IMDB after all.

But the concept wasn't executed as well as I think it could've been. I'm a huge Halsey fan so I am very familiar with her entire creative vibe, which I love. I just wish some things would have been a little clearer and not leaned so much into symbolic interpretation. The base story they wanted to tell was there in the music and the visuals, and the wardrobe totally blew me away. But it just didn't feel cohesive enough for storytelling on a screen. Can't wait to see what else she creates! I feel like in the IICHLIWP era is definitely Halsey peaking.
I love Halsey career. I love her music. The production of this film it's amazing. The costumes , cinematography and casting outstanding. The concept it's there. But that's not enough. It's not enough combine beautiful images. And that's a shame because it could be such a great music film.

- CuriosidadesLila urinates on seeds and becomes angry when they sprout later in the film. What she did was an ancient Egyptian pregnancy test, which had come out positive.
- PifiasAt about 31:54, when Lila is drowning herself at the end of "The Lighthouse", black bars are very visible at both sides of the screen.
- Citas
The King: I have given you everything!
Queen Lila: You have given me nothing but a lifetime of misery!
- Créditos adicionalesAt the end of the credits, you can read "For Alev Aydin, and our greatest ERA of all". This is a dedication to Halsey's partner, Alev: ERA stands for Ender Ridley Aydin, their child's full name.
