Sober

This film is for Leeds Utd fans. Low budget (a meagre seven grand) shot quickly (nine days) and released for free on YouTube. Don't expect any Hollywood big budget hoopla, but what you get instead is a very funny but also quite touching booze cruise tour of Leeds. Some good laughs, lots of local Leeds humour (the Three Legs pub!) and the music by all Leeds based bands is a treat. Square Ball & LUFC fans get to see Michael Normanton waving a towel at a drunk Scotsman (we all know a Dancer). Leeds lad Dean Smith is hilarious in the lead role coupled with a preggers wife, a stressful job, and a very very angry sister in law.

Smith is aided and abetted by his best pal Ant, played marvellously by Tom Gibbons who exudes a laddish charm and wit as well as a touching vulnerability that is surprisingly raw at times.

One of those films set mostly in one day and you find yourself really wanting the lads to succeed despite their drunken best efforts to shoot themselves in the leg.

Been described as Trainspotting for Leeds Utd Dads, and that about sums it up. Recommended. MOT.
