The filmmaker managed to combine all emotions. Being able to see images of before (through CCTV), during and the aftermath, it gives you a different perspective. Beautifully edited, great soundtrack.
Beirut after 40 brings back the memory of the Beirut explosion from the middle of the scene. Anthony was blessed to survive the explosion and tell/film about it. It's a very touching documentary that shows what everyone went through right at the moment of the explosion and how everyone was trying to help whoever needed help. Loved the security cameras feeds it really showed a lot of the sad scenes at the moment of the explosion.
Well done !

'Beirut After 40' brings together all the words.
I think it's an exceptional marriage of memory, research, doubt, reconstruction, possible conflicting memories, verifiable fact and, like all true stories, a soupçon or three of fiction.
The film within the film within the film is a godsend as a construction and as a scenario. You've milked it and yet finally your film and your approach is full of humanity and (from someone as egocentric as you, my dear friend) full of humility.
You made me smile, you made me weep, you made me laugh. You provided me with an exceptional Documentary film experience that I will never forget, Anthony.

I remember going LIVE with Anthony Merchak on my instagram after the explosion, I remember his story and every word he said. Then, two weeks ago, I watched this movie. While watching it, I got goose bumps. I was not in Lebanon when the explosion happened, this movie made me FEEL exactly what happened. I felt I was there. He has footage of the moment of explosion which is to me the strongest moment in this movie, and footage from the hospital (I cannot believe people went through that in 2020). I have no idea how he got these footages, but I know that he had to go through a lot of trouble to get his hand on those rushes. I see a lot of dedication in this movie, a lot of creativity, and a hard worker who deserves recognition. Knowing Anthony myself from my previous job, I know that is is about time his hard work across the years gets appreciated by the international community. Besides that, him as a survivor - having told his story, requires a lot of guts! I love this movie - the WORLD deserves to see what Lebanese people went through on August 4, and what we have been going through since 1975. Lebanon is a phoenix, but Lebanon has been suffering, but just like this movie shows we always RISE through solidarity. Anthony was saved by the people around him. That is Lebanon. Lebanon is not WAR. Lebanon is brotherhood, we are great people and it is unfair what has been happening to us.
The times in the movie "Beirut After Forty" overlap, to become identifiable through a film depicted within a film. The crew of a documentary film entitled "The Thread of Appeal" became part of another real movie they experienced with all its shocking details.
In Beirut, specifically on August 4, 2020, the director of the two films, Anthony Mershak and his team, were following the work of filming his first film "The Thread of Appeal", which talks about the concerns of the Lebanese youth and records many views of young people whose dreams and destinies oscillate between traveling and staying in Lebanon despite the difficult circumstances. In which they are faced.
While they are in the midst of working on completing a stage of their documentary film, the powerful explosion of Beirut Port takes place, which shook the Lebanese capital and left many casualties and injuries on that hot summer day.
These three minutes changed the whole concept of the film.
