Something bit me is an engaging show. The stories are quite fascinating and the actors are well casted and perform well. I think the episode "Lord, I'll see you in a minute." is probably my favorite. I'm hoping for a season 2. Always happy to discover a new show on Disney+
Something Bit Me offers a cool experience with a good narrator and good videos of animals and the environment. But you quickly realize the execution is abysmal. The show tries to create tense stories to make you really think "will this person survive the attack?" But they have one massive problem: they have the survivors telling the story from the start, so knowing they and everyone survived removes all tension before the attack is even talked about. It wouldn't be so bad if the re-enactments were good. They weren't, they were goofy at best. The show tries so hard to be dramatic and tense but fails incredibly miserably. It's a shame because I love animal documentaries and especially learning about these fascinating creatures. But it's so boring. I'm frankly flabbergast at how poor the execution was. Only watch if you want something in the background about animals, or maybe to laugh at some of the goofy re-enactments. The shaky camera parts makes me chuckle with an eye-roll every time.
I really liked this show. The victims and the experts were realistic in their view of our interaction with nature. They told you what the humans did right and wrong and probably what should've or could've been done differently. They explained why the animal might've acted the way it did. They made sure the audience knew these were special situations and not the normal wildlife behavior. The only real soap box they got on was to "stop feeding the wildlife!" That was a soap box I didn't mind.
This can be an emotional ride sometimes. Being a father who loved being outside with our six kids, I choked up while telling my wife about the father who was also choking up as he watched his daughter being taken out of the Grand Canyon while dangling high in the air by a cable from the rescue helicopter.
I would've liked to see more of the smaller critters that we can sometimes encounter. Spiders, wasps, mosquitos and parasites can also kill and maim.
I can't wait for season two!

Not only is this series interesting and well-produced, but it's one of the first I've seen to truly incorporate conservation science. I really appreciate the ways that the scientists explain how these encounters can be avoided and all of the impacts that humans have on wildlife. I definitely recommend this to anyone outdoorsy or people who enjoy search and rescue shows.
You don't want to watch this show unless you are ready for several punches to the gut. It's honestly harrowing at times, more than you might expect. But otherwise I wholeheartedly recommend it.
These are real stories, deeply compelling, retold by the people involved themselves. For the most part they are also re-enacted in parallel to the retellings. The incidents that are retold had a profound impact on the people telling them, both emotionally and physically. No filler here. It's both shocking and inspiring.
