Just like the first season of the office "the american spin-off of the british series", this will get mixed reviews. I guess people don't like spin-offs.
It has the same vibes as the office. The same montage, same camera movement, ... I wasn't a big fan of the original show myself. I just didn't like how you have to wait for someone to look at the camera to know it is time laugh. But, i have seen some clips and edits here and there on tiktok and youtube and i get how the show works.
For me when first went to watch the first episode i knew i had to put on a special mindset to enjoy it, just like in watching friends or new girl or any if these kind of shows. Some people just expect to watch something like game of thrones, it's a SITCOM this is how it works.
I liked the jokes being original and not trying mimick another culture.
As i remember it's going to be 12 episodes long, so let's see how it will end up.

It took me a few episodes to get attached to the characters but now I am really hoping that there will be a second season. I am curious about their future.
In my opinion it is not crazy funny but I find it nice and overall funny. It is sometimes cringe but I felt the same while watching some episodes of the US office. I have seen people complaining that is not consistent with the Saudi life. I am not an expert of this country so I am not disturbed by this fact, all the more that I find the show consistent with the behaviours I could observed in other Arabic countries that I am more familiar with.

Compared to other international versions of The Office, this version definitely comes second-best (the US one being the first).
Obviously, some people in the reviews don't understand the concept of "adapting" a series format and, as a result, missed the mark completely.
"Al Maktab" managed to perfectly utilize the visual style of The Office using the show's signature angles and editing. It also managed to capture the show's cringeworthy sense of humor using jokes and dialogue relevant to both modern times and Saudi office culture.
I say kudos to the whole team behind this very entertaining production, and I hope people are more supportive of such amazing Saudi talents.

First thing to do if you want to do a spin-off of the office is to put so much effort into finding a local talent to represent Michael Scott, and they failed miserably at that. The lead actor is robot-like, with not so-genuine reactions and body movements. He tried so hard to mimic Michael without fully understanding who Michael is, who he represents, or what he stands for. He carried so much pride into the role that he ended up being stupidly cringy and not real. Hey, my opinion might be harsh but I'm pretty sure I speak for lots and lots of viewers. If you want any hope of making this show trendy or gain any serious viewership, get rid of "Michael Scott".
I really enjoyed it very funny and my family also enjoyed it. We all laughed together. The jokes are original and smart. Wish they continue for season 2. The characters are in their right place. Most of the jokes are internal to the arabs or at leas the good ones. There is some new episodes or different narrative than the original and they try to not copy everything exactly. They add their own twist. Rather than playing basketball ball comparing to the US version, they play football. Give it 2 episode or 3 before it kicks in. Highly recommended either you are a fan of the US version or never seen it, its a good show.
