Wong acts like a stereotypical toxic guy in from the nineteen fifties. More suited to madmen than any show from this century
Winchester does all the heavy lifting detection-wise, but is spoken to rudely, treated poorly, and then all the credit goes to Wong
Strange
What were the writers thinking?
Wong is someone who's apparently so grumpy and low maintenance that she may not even be bothered to bathe. But has perfectly flowing blow-dried hair and bangs at all times. Very poor character building
The mysteries are not that hard to crack. The personalities and dynamic of the lead are quite hard to watch. Rudeness just for the sake of rudeness-its not even attempting to be funny. Pass.

Rude, obnoxious, dislikeable PI with a kind, likeable assistant. How many times do have to see yet another one of these sitcoms, lacking any imagination. Ridiculous storylines, the overcranky boss who makes everyone around her miserable, so tiresome. I watched the first episode and although there were some mildly funny quips, it was increasingly hard to keep my interest. The one playing Wong, has the perfect face for the role though, she has that permanently angry scowl. I watched the first episode and lost interest 1/2 way through . I'm mystified how it got a 6.8/10 rating, I really am., I guess I'm in the minority on this one.
I love these kind of shows and Wong and Winchester is great! Doesn't take itself too seriously and has a little fun each episode. Not a super high production quality show like HBO or something, but perfect easy viewing when you aren't looking for anything too serious. Like Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys for adults. Reminds me of a lower budget Remington Steel or Magnum PI or Monk. Nice and simple series about private detectives solving mysteries usually with a few funny twists. The characters are great and a bit more adult themed than some shows so maybe not for watching with young kids. Main character and her sidekick are funny and have good chemistry, like a very off beat Holmes and Watson.
Could it be improved upon? Of course, but it's only got the one season.
All it needs is a a second season to flesh out some character development, then a third with a bigger name to attract more viewers. Maybe a guest star, like a harried gas jockey from town from Saskatchewan played by Brent Butt or something. Maybe an in-need retired defense lawyer threatened by an ex-client played by Sonja Smits.
Perhaps a certain guest star that hung out at a Mosque from a flat part of Canada ;) Otherwise, great cast, decent scripts. Not astonishing, but on par with Hudson and Rex or a more comedic Rookie Blue. An enjoyable guilty pleasure.
