A Holy Conspiracy

Kunal, a respected teacher in a Christian school, is arrested on false charges because he refuses to teach the Biblical story of creation before teaching Darwin's theory of evolution. He is accused of being an apostate and a Maoist. The story then moves to a courtroom where he pleads "not guilty" since he strongly feels that he is a science teacher and it is his responsibility to impart knowledge, not to preach religion and superstition. Hats off to writer-director #SaibalMitra for handling a complex theme with such maturity. Naseeruddin Shah and Soumitra Chatterjee are brilliant. Bengali film #AHolyConspiracy is something Bollywood would never dare to make. Running time needs to be reduced by 20 minutes. There are limited shows in mumbai and there is hardly any publicity. Do watch it. Rating 4/5.

You should see the movie "A Holy Conspiracy", one of the best movies ever. A really fine movie with sensiitive handling of difficult topics which left me engrossed. A must watch movie. Powerful acting from the entire cast.

It's not only, a story of a Tribal school teacher charged for denying to teach the concept of Genesis from the Holy Bible and teaches Charles Darwin's theory to the Student and for that reason, he has been given imprisonment without any privilege of trial as well as due to the conspiracy by local Politicians he has been made scapegoat to strengthen their vote bank with the help of School Authorities, but it's a story of all educated Persons Who wants to acquaint the coming generation with the difference between mythological myths and scientifically proven truth by breaking the political trap.

In my opinion, nothing bad is noticed except few ending scenes which was to be edited. But still the movie is compact.

Story : A Holy Conspiracy, is the story of a Tribal School Teacher who, in the future chooses science among, spiritual beliefs and science. He wants to teach it to his class students. Despite being a tribal, his father converted to Christianity so that his son could study and educate his tribe accordingly.

When he denies to teach Genesis from the Holy Bible and put science over it by teaching Charles Darwin's theory, he has been beaten along with his other colleagues by unknown outsiders and put only to him directly in to the Jail without the privilege of a trial in the court and made him Guilty through a conspiracy under political influences and authorities of the said school. The case is filed in the court. He has been asked by Judge whether you are guilty or not guilty. He replied "not guilty". Soon the trail for the court's decision begins.

One side Anton D'Souza and the other side Basant Kumar Chatterjee argue on the for and against points in respect of charged framed against the Tribal Teacher . Fight/argue begain between the truth and myth beliefs, the viewers remain in a dilemma as to which side they are? Whether on the side of the plaintiff's lawyer or the defendant's lawyer. Advocate Anton D'Souza (Nassiruddin) says The right to think is on trial. Opposition argues, No, a man is on trial. Anton shouts, He is a thinking man.

The director is trying to send a message through this film that whether we should keep silent by accepting the debate going on around us, in our phone, in the newspaper, or on TV, that we are living the life of bigotry in different ways and are only following religious beliefs Or else the truth of science should be accepted so that the future of the coming generation can be educated? . If you see yourself in the ongoing debate in the trial court. Does this make you uncomfortable? Is there any difference between you and what you call a fanatic? The director has built a story around this thought in his writing without creating a villain, he makes both side fight powerful . But he also educates the point that only the person who is always out of your sight benefits.

Actor's Performance : All the actors are performed well. The director's character concept has been fully lived, due to which the dynamics of the film remains and keeps the audience engaged till 143 Minutes (approx. Running time of the film) .

Directional : The director is able to convey the story and essence of the film to the audience through the cast, cinematography , Music, back ground sound effects etc . He didn't give a chance to think anything out of the box and kept it around the story and message of the film. Got to see a strong direction.

Every one must see this film. That's all.
