With that being said, it was literally Workaholics. Ders, Blake, and Adam are literally ripped off to full effect. You can tell these guys watched Workaholics as kids and it's fine. They did a nice job paying homage to their heroes, but they could've made it a little more subtle.
Other than that, it's seriously a fun little romper and my gf and I got a good kick out of it. I love some fun late-night-comedies and this movie gets it right where others fail miserably. I'm not going to rank it up there with Grandmas Boy or Hot Rod but it's worth the watch if you want to watch a fun adventure movie that will give you some laughs.
Conan is also pretty amazing to see, and if you watch it for him alone it is great. He's not just a cameo but plays a nice part in it.
Watch it with a friend or two and have some fun with it.
The acting is terrible, of course, but that's part of the genre. Nothing is taken seriously, it's just a bunch of kids having fun, the story is ridiculous, but a real story would actually be a distraction here. Bowen Yang and Conan O'Brien do a fine job, and the main characters are pretty much the same as what you see on SNL.
The production is actually quite good, this kind of movie is typically done more on the cheap.
So no, an Oscar is not likely, but if you just want to have fun with a bunch of goofballs, you may enjoy this movie.
A film that had the potential to be a laugh-a-minute comedy. The initial scenes have some great lines and the presence of Conan O'Brien as Farley strengthens the film's comedic credentials. However, it never fully gets going a comedy, spluttering along rather than being constantly funny.
The fact that the film seems more preoccupied in being an adventure movie would explain the inconsistent comedy. This wouldn't be so bad if the adventure plot was half-decent but it's not, being rather haphazard and unfocused.
In the end you have something that is half-baked and neither fish nor fowl. A pity, as it had so much potential.
¿Sabías que...?
- CuriosidadesMost of the outdoors scenes are filmed at the Shinny Creek Campsite in Connelly Springs, North Carolina. The waterfall where the guys are dancing to Soulja Boy is named Big Bear Falls.

Farley: The police are here, and they're saying you bought alcohol for minors.
Martin, John, Ben: [cuts the police waiting outside the store] Oh no.
Farley: Yeah, that's a crime.
Martin: In Europe, the drinking age is like ten.
John: They could have been European.
Farley: What made you think they were European?
Martin: They had a certain je ne sais quoi.
Martin: Yeah.
Ben: I think one of them was eating pain au chocolat.
