This show is a refreshing change to the Indian web series landscape due to its originality and solid filmmaking. Only three episodes have been released and I am loving the show so far. The show has great direction, production, and acting. An impressive debut by Jai Mehta. Glad to see Vivek Gomber getting his due. Rajat Kapoor is fantastic as always. Glad to see Varin Roopani after school of lies (kid has talent!). The other supporting actors have done a great job and the writing helps prevent them from feeling like caricatures. Definitely watch this show if you are looking for a gripping and entertaining show that will have you at the edge of your seat.
Lootere embarks with a flourish of excitement and promise, capturing your interest right from the start. However, the charm quickly diminishes as the series progresses beyond episode three. This decline in appeal is courtesy an overabundance of story elements and a poorly strategized release schedule of one episode per week.
The show's pacing becomes erratic, leaving the narrative feeling disjointed and hard to follow. Instead of focusing on a cohesive plot, the series loses itself in a maze of too many characters and superfluous subplots. One particularly uninteresting storyline involves Vivek Gomber's character's wife and the annoying son as she searches for a boy who is friends with her son. This subplot not only feels unnecessary but also lacks believability, further detracted by the characters' irritating portrayals.
Despite these narrative missteps, the series does boast some strong performances. The acting prowess of the cast, particularly the ever-reliable Rajat Kapoor, shines through, albeit they are let down by a lackluster script that fails to support their talents and is wasted. Vivek Gomber, however, does not seem to fit well in his role, which may be more a reflection of the script's shortcomings than his acting abilities.
By the time episode six rolls around, any initial enthusiasm has turned into exhaustion and annoyance. The momentum necessary to sustain interest in a weekly episodic release just isn't there. The series had the potential to be a gripping heist drama but instead feels like a hijack gone wrong-too many elements pulling in different directions without arriving anywhere satisfying.

Another Hansal Mehta series! The story revolves around Pirates of Somalia hijacking a navy ship. It starts with an evil plan of an ambitious man to succeed leading to the hijack of the ship and eventually his own greediness ruins him off with everything. Does have about 8 series with an average time of 40 mins each. Series doesn't bore for sure but it's quite messed up though with too many sub plots. But showcases the intricacies of crew men, pirates of Somalia, inter continental politics etc making plot look realistic. However, ending was so bad that it ruined the entire series. Had a real potential of being an impactful hijack drama but misses out due to lengthier dragged execution. Available in all South Indian languages including Hindi in Disney Hotstar. My ratings 6/10!
Good things first- The opening title and the background music is top notch and pleasure to the eyes as well as ears. The film set was authentic and good. Rajat kapoor outshines the season.
Thats all for the good, rest everything is bad, no depth in the story, anyone killing anyone for no reason with no background to it.
This story could have easily be told in 3 episode. Why the hell is Mudit hanging on the rope? Why? Everyone in the story is a turncoat, wtf.
Maha overacting by the protagonist, angry for no reason at all. Story does not feel a smooth flow at all, you will keep hitting these block as in 'now why is this happening' , n then 'what, why, how?'. Pathetic storytelling. I watched it because of that Samay Raina podcast and Hansal sir's stamp .
Jai really need to learn a lot from his dad.

Lootere is an action crime series directed by jai mehta.
One of the strongest points of the serues is its steady hold on its narrative. The events take its time, the politics come into light and the writing keeps a track of the events.
The actors have done a splendid job. Starting from rajat kapoor and chandan roy sanyal to the african actors. Martial batchamen tchana as barkhad will interest you with his demeanor. He did a fabulous job. The other actors too were superb. Vivek gomber, though looked a fish out of water to me. His bursts of frustration seemed artificial. However, he got better as the series went on. But there was a layer of rust in his portrayal.
The film explores the political landscape of somalia pretty well, the dealings of terrorist organizations and its linkage with politics is also dealt with subtlety. The background music is terrific, of course when done by achint thakkar, the man behind the riveting score of scam 1992. There are some subplots which take time and test your patience, but once invested it keeps you engaged.
