Somebody is a dark erotic thriller that is different than the typical K-drama. It has a little bit of everything, but not a lot makes sense. The shaman did not make sense. The missing police did not make sense. The dialogue is sparse, and did not make sense. The explicit sex scenes did not make sense.
That being said, the series has a unique style that is gritty and dark. The cinematography and editing are captivating. The mystery unfolds in a tense way. The serial killer is demented and convincingly portrays a frightening character. The interactions between the main character and the serial killer are odd, although the mental disorder supposedly explains it. If you are fine with unnecessary sex scenes with a K-drama style, this could be worth a watch.

Personally I think this series isn't something everyone would love to watch. When it comes to making kdrama with psychic thriller concept the creators need to be really careful with what they are putting up on the screen. Some scene portraited in the series can be extremely sensitive to some people. Since we don't get to see much kdrama with such intensive act shown by the actors, this series definitely paved a new path in the kdrama industry. The cinematography and so was the story line as it showed diversity by dopting many things from the pop culture and applying them creatively. And the last thing I would want to say is that if you really want to watch the series then watch it full, don't leave in mid way or skip scenes.
This movie may have been a really good thriller. It began all nice and dark...and then you actually had to cgi or not, show the a black cat being tortured/killed. I realize this is a realistic step in the path of serial killers, but it was over the edge for most animal lovers. You didn't have to show it - I dropped out for a few days after that episode. Went back and tried to watch the rest, but it literally creeped the hell out of me with all the stalking down the "prey". Dropped out & haven't finished. This almost felt like it could be a bad role model for some twisted folks. (If you know what I mean.). So, not saying this isn't one the darkest chillers I've watched. Just wished Netflix would have eared about the animal bit b/c I can't unsee it now.
Someone rated this a 3, which is insane to me because it certainly doesn't deserve such a low rating simply because it's not that persons "cup of tea".
I'm a huge fan of thrillers, and this one was really well done. The writing was excellent, the performances, top notch, and the cinematography stunning. Even if you didn't like the premise of the show, you must acknowledge that everything else was done well.
Don't pass this show up simply because of one bad review- it's so much better than that.
Watch this, rate it and help change the average score, because this show doesn't deserve a measly 5.7/10.

I am in the "How can people rate this so low" crowd. This was definitely one of the best Korean drama's I've seen all year!
I will agree with some who say the last few episodes weren't so compelling. But overall, this is very well executed. The cinematography, acting, original premise, I was able get into it like a tailor made sleeve.
I love the soundtrack with the 8 bit stuff and how the protagonist (but is she?) mixes old tech with new tech at her home and office. Because honestly, new tech isn't always better than what came before. That also aligns with her mental condition; people with Asperger Syndrome tend to not care what others think. Read this again to understand why she does what she does and doesn't.
Some reviewers don't understand her actions or the "stupidity" of Kim Sun, and think her mental condition is falsely portrayed. Remember that she has never known real love before, on top of her mental condition. The antagonist is truly creepy, and yes, his background is somewhat vague, but I find that it adds to his condition. They also explore nature vs nurture here, so I don't think you can say they don't try to find reasons for his sick mind. And honestly, I didn't really care that much about his origins. Some people just are this way.
Another reason why I think this score is so low/polarized is that a lot of Koreans and perhaps people from other conservative cultures rated this and simply found it to be too explicit. Seriously, people rated this a 1 to 3? That seems like a knee-jerk emotional reaction from people who aren't used to thrillers like this. So perhaps this one is a hit more for western viewers? Just a theory.
