Adrianne & the Castle

Saw this at SXSW and was blown away! On the surface the story is about two people in love who pursue their every creative vision to the extreme, together (like building a castle in the mid west). As you watch you slowly find where the documentary's true meaning lies. A story about love, grief, the never ending process of art. "Art is never completed, just abandoned."

This movie let me see a persons grief and artistic process, while also seeing the fantastical and weird world two people created for themselves in a way I have never experienced before.

The way the movie explores Allan and Adrianne's life event through music and dance feels exactly how Adrienne would've have wanted her live to be remembered. Truly a beautiful film. Can't wait to watch it again!

Shannon Welsh's Adrienne & the Castle was unexpected, moving, inspiring and filled with vibrancy, courage and love. I went in without any idea of how the story might be portrayed and Welsh does remarkable job at representing a truly incredible and one-of-a-kind story. The life of Adrienne and her inspiring nature of being unforgivingly herself, as well as the love shared between two soulmates and Alan's lifelong dedication to his muse, truly deserved to be shared with the world. Alan's ability to achieve genius in any and all artistic mediums is also extremely noteworthy. I wept and smiled all throughout the film and left with a fire lit under me to live my life to the fullest as my most authentic self.
