This show is somewhere between a drama and a cooking show. The lack of of a show host and external judges felt more like cost cutting than creative plot writing. The production quality is high, but the sets and locations could have been more imaginative. This new take on a culinary competition was somewhat refreshing from an entertainment perspective and I enjoyed watching them cook delicious food.. But I felt the whole premise of the competition left too much room for foul play which led to talented chefs leaving early in the competition. This show seems more focused on backstabbing and personal alliances than determining the best chef but in the end it turned out to be pretty enjoyable. I think if they get a bigger budget in future seasons improve on a few things it could be a great show.
The only kind of reality TV I tend to watch are the creative ones - I'm very partial to cooking shows, so when a new one is released, I have to watch it.
The premise of this appealed to me - eleven chefs in one house, and having to judge themselves, rather than having any kind of guest judge.
The reality, however, wasn't so appealing. This is just like Big Brother but with cooking instead of canoodling. But apparently the food is 'sexy', food should not be 'sexy'. It should be enticing, appealing, delicious, etc.
If you want to watch a group of talented chefs being judged fairly on their food, this is not for you. If you want to watch a group of talented chefs being judged on their friendships, rather than talent, then this is for you.

I like cooking shows, I like the show Survivor. Do I like to see them both mixed together? Not really.
It was clear that the producers were trying really hard to create drama. It seemed to work at the beginning but at some point people were judging to be fair and then all these odd twists came along. It felt like they were trying to steer the competition in certain ways with all these sudden changes Sometimes people got voted off right away, other times they had a chance to redeem themselves. There was no rhyme or reason.
Ending also seemed odd. I liked the episodes with the blind tasting with the food critics and the family members. If there is another season I would like to see a a voting process that makes sense and no artificial created drama.

This is a show steeped in tension and drama and toxicity. The producers have done everything possible to pit these people against one another, every episode the contestants who are up for elimination practically beg the other competitors to not eliminate them. It's humiliating for everyone involved, and distasteful for viewers looking for an honest cooking competition.
Contestants forming partnerships for the cooking challenges, and former contestants coming back to be judges does add excitement, but the actual judging should be blind or carried out by third parties. Food critics should have chosen the winner.

I honestly loved the cooking and it gave me several dishes I want to try out myself.
The rest was utter trash. Jeana is quite possibly the worst human on the planet, She introduces her self like she's super friendly, team player, and that whole intro was completely fake.
She lies, pits other cooks against each other, and is an all around #itch.
The finale as terrible. The winner, was definitely not the "winner", it was entirely based on who was friends with who.
Trash TV at its finest. FU Netflix, you suck again. More and more of your shows are like this senseless garbage. If there is a season 2, fire the writers and start from scratch.
