Odio el verano

Most of the time, Spanish comedy films tend to receive negative ratings, and I really don't quite understand why, especially when it's clear from the start that their main goal is just to entertain.

The movie is fun, has an interesting story, and is well-developed for what it aims to be. It's true that some of the jokes are basic, but at its core, the narrative has depth. You can see clear character development. It portrays the dynamics of three completely different families and how they come together through the situations they have to face. Moreover, it highlights emotions and the collective struggle to overcome obstacles and achieve dreams, like wanting to be "Superman."

In conclusion, it's a fun movie for all audiences.

Some comedies don't try to reinvent anything, and others don't even try to be funny. I Hate Summer falls squarely into the second category. It's got all the usual ingredients: familiar faces, a lighthearted tone, a sunny holiday vibe... but it never quite takes off. It doesn't entertain, it doesn't move you, and it certainly doesn't deliver any genuine laughs.

The script leans on tired clichés and situations that are as absurd as they are unfunny. It seems more interested in lining up popular comedians than giving them anything worthwhile to do. The plot stumbles from one forced subplot to another, and it often feels like you're watching an overlong sketch.

It might work as background noise if you're not expecting much, but if you're after wit or even just a little spark, best to look elsewhere. Neither the cast nor the occasional well-meaning moment can save this comedy from becoming just another forgettable title.
