This one had me from the beginning. This was a great film with no petty, silly moments or characters and lots of depth. I can't understand the negative comments in prior reviews. The Penavegas did a good job and the 2 kids were terrific. Even the landlady(mean old thing😊) was a great character. There was never too much time spent on negative aspects, those moments were kept moving at a good pace. There were enough obstacles to make the plot realistic and I loved the faith element ( which I did not find preachy). Just a good and uplifting movie that left me feeling satisfied. I didn't have any issue with the sound quality, so maybe that was fixed somehow.
We watched bollywood movie Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke which was released in 1993. That movie was superhit and all actors including child characters worked great. The story of this movie is very similar to the bollywood one. Instead of three kids, they used two kids into this one. Instead of male lead's sister kids, they used male lead's brother kids. Im the bollywood version, the male lead's love interest is his boss's daughter. In this one his love interest is real estate lady. Theme and concept is same but some characters and story line were updated. Overall it is really good movie to watch. It has a family story, love story, comedy, religious things all includes. Full family movie.
Perhaps the best GAF or Hallmark movie in a long time. Great script and great acting. The story has a variety of parallel storylines including business clients, careers, children, and romance. Great writing for dialog between kids, who were struggling lost parents, and lead actors. The child actors were charming and entertaining. The story deals with several tough realistic life issues and offers sound advice at difficult crossroads for the various challenges each of the characters are facing. The movie is set in NYC which plays an entertaining and instrumental role in the storyline, adding to the dynamic storyline.
To say this was brutal is an understatement. The lead characters are married in real life and this most always leads to a train wreck. Acting was weak at best, storyline incredibly predictable. While watching my gf and I were saying the lines before they were actually spoken. This service asks if my review contains a spoiler. If you can't predict the outcome 10 mins into the movie, you've been living in a box. This is a heavy faith based movie which made it a little preachy (pardon the pun). Don't know why we bothered, guess it was a slow TV night. I should have watched my grass grow instead. This was a BIG miss for me.
I don't know what movie the two negative reviewers watched, but it can't have been Mr. Manhattan. I'm a person who always has to have the CC on and I never felt the need for it once here. And although the faith element was (comparatively) quite forward, it was by no means as "in your face" as movies of this genre can be.
Cliche and predictable it may be (I didn't find it to be too much of either, myself) but sometimes you just need to watch something where everything turns out for the best and the deus ex machina character (Mr. Stonehouse in this case) doesn't pound the viewer over the head with his role. Sometimes in today's world, you just need to fill out a couple hours with a feel-good movie and this fits the bill quite nicely without being too over the top.
