Respira

I'm a fan of medical dramas. E. R., House, The Resident, Chicago Med... I watch them all and am willing to suspend disbelief.

I also loved Transplant and wish it would come back.

I am not a medical professional but have interacted a lot with the medical-industrial complex.

Some of what goes on here medically is silly. But I watched all the episodes (in Spanish with English subtitles) and found myself liking the characters and being interested in their lives.

There's nothing here original but TBH in the current U. S. shows there isn't either. All the territory has been covered. Moreover it's predictable but... sic.

So I thought it was okay and recommend it if you like medical dramas and are willing to put up with the sex and the gore (both more extreme I think).

"Respira" falls disappointingly flat, borrowing heavily from the ambiance of "Elite" but failing to capture the intrigue and sophistication that made the latter a hit. The show's atmosphere, while attempting to evoke a sense of rebellious glamor, feels like a pale imitation of its predecessor. The pacing is painfully slow, with many scenes dragging on without adding meaningful content or advancing the plot. Moreover, the filming techniques seem amateurish at best, with awkward camera angles and poorly executed transitions that disrupt the flow and further detract from the viewing experience. Overall, "Respira" is a tedious watch that leaves much to be desired in terms of originality and entertainment value. It stands as a weak attempt to replicate the success of "Elite," but ends up being a chore to get through. Skip this one if you're looking for something engaging and well-crafted.

Netflix's Respira is a blatant rip-off of the worst parts of House. The series suffers from a poorly written script, uneven pacing, and a lack of originality. The attempt to normalize transgender representation is commendable, but it feels shoehorned into the narrative and doesn't add anything meaningful to the story. The medical cases are often unbelievable and the characters are underdeveloped. If you're looking for a well-crafted medical drama, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

A new medical drama, maybe inspired by others, but more realistic.

Doctors and nurses work in a public hospital that politicians want to convert into private.

They struggle trying to do their job in an ostile situation.

They look more realistic than other medical drama: they look sometimes weak, tired and fragile, even unprepared for their job. They make mistakes and they pay for them.

I think they are more believable than some other characters, especially American ones where doctors and nurses always have perfect hair and makeup even after a 24 hour shift and patients are in perfect shape even tha day after a massive surgery.

I really enjoy it.

Wow this blew me away.

I'm an NHS nurse of 27 years and really thought that the miserable UK was the only healthcare system that was not fit for purpose. I've always looked to the Spanish healthcare system as a model of excellence.

I'm sure that much of it was for dramatic licence but the chaos, total lack of staffing and below zero moral is not a drama on TV for me, it's real, each and every day.

The acting in this is absolutely top notch. Not a bad link anywhere and it's very well written. Multiple stories within.

I love the international dramas and am so grateful for the English dub as I hate subtitles. They are so much better than the utter trash that the UK spews out nowadays.

I was gripped to start to finish.
