Mundane

This movie was quite introspective, comedic, and divine. Lol. ;)

Aspects of this movie introduce otherworldly aspects of life. Inspiring the audience to view their apparently, Mundane life with curiosity. It also could inspire those who actually live their lives "in the mundane," how their lives are inspired to be creative, even when they do not believe it to be so.

I've been following and admiring Ignacio Maiso's filmography for a while now. The Girl With The Fork remains my absolute favourite of his films, with its haunting imagery and profound exploration of identity. The way Maiso captures human vulnerability through his distinctive visual style is unmatched in contemporary cinema. Mundane sits high up there with THEM, showcasing his evolution as a director while maintaining his signature atmospheric tension. Maiso is truly at the top of his game - everything from the lighting to the framing is impeccable on a cinematographic scale. The performances he draws from his actors are consistently superb, bringing nuanced emotional depth to his complex narratives. I remain a dedicated fan of Maiso's work and eagerly anticipate his future projects.

Great work, interesting, entertaining and thought-provoking. A low-budget film well worthy of any accolades that come its way. Really nice (unique) writing and direction by Ignacio Maiso, likewise cinematography by Pierluigi Rossi. I really enjoyed this film which has in turn triggered my interest into the other films on Tractorni Productions slate which are recommended by others. Almost certainly the most unique film I have seen in a long while. Lastly, the actors; Astrid Olofsson who played the female lead was frankly extraordinary, a truly gifted young actor that is certainly one to watch and certainly set for great things in the future; equally Paul Dewdney who played the male lead, the screen chemistry between Paul and Astrid was superb and pitched emotionally perfect, the remainder of the players were all equally superb; truly inspired casting.

If a story doesn't lift off the page then it sure as hell wont down a camera lens however, Mundane is definitely NOT the embodiment of that; In its journey there is conflict and confusion in equal measure, and the watcher needs to concentrate, but the strong performances by everybody cements it all together and gives it a really tone and texture. The comedic elements also work really well - I was minded of tone of Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia and Bryan Forbes The Stepford Wives even with echoes of Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction with its purposeful disturbing, awkward dialogue and pace. I absolutely loved the cinematography and the choice of shots, brilliant editing too; and that disturbing soundtrack is just superb! Watching it feels really fresh and uniquely relevant. Really great job, I absolutely love it.

Written and Directed by Ignacio Maiso and produced by Tractorni Productions the film stars Astrid Olofsson as the title character Mundane with Paul Dewdney, Neil Ovenell, Christina Ashford, Nicola Wright and Daisy Porter.

The director has a real unique style to all his work which is once again on full display here.

It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea but if you want something a bit different and a true indie movie, this is well worth a look. Some really great performances from the cast and a terrific score too.
