Resumen
Reviewers say 'Picture This' is a mixed romantic comedy with praise for Simone Ashley's performance and humor, but criticism for the lead characters' lack of chemistry. The film relies on clichés and has a predictable plot, with an underwhelming romantic element. Some appreciate South Asian culture representation, while others find it stereotypical. Pacing, character development, and comedy execution are contentious. Overall, it's an enjoyable yet flawed film with unrealized potential.

I watched this purely to see Simone Ashley. British movies, especially rom-coms, rarely come out with actors/actresses from a South asian background. So the representation was really important to me. However the whole storyline was so underwhelming and flat. The characters lacked depth. There were cringey lines all over the place.
You know that feeling when you really want the leads to end up together? It just felt so empty! The leads didn't have any chemistry, whatsoever. Even between 'Pia' and her sister 'Sonal'. I've got to give it to the actor who played 'Jay' who did a great job considering the circumstances. Really wish it wasn't this bad!

My wife and I were looking for some interesting entertainment and settled on this movie, made by Amazon and streaming on Prime. The past few years we have watched lots of, I am reluctant to admit, very marginal "made for streaming" movies and were skeptical, but this is a really fine and entertaining movie.
I had never seen Simone Ashley before, she plays the main character Pia. I just couldn't take my eyes off her, she is gorgeous, but best of all she is a really good actress and her performance here is very authentic.
The basic story is this - she is single and soon turning 30, her younger sister is getting married soon, the sister and her mother are strongly encouraging Pia to find a suitable husband. But she has a career as a photographer and co-owns a studio with her gay friend. But business isn't great and they may go under.
The story has many complications but most things are resolved in good, meaningful ways. We found it to be a worthwhile, entertaining movie.

This film had all the ingredients of a great Rom Com. It had beautiful and talented actors and actresses. A funny and sweet story line. A gay best friend, a lovely crazy Indian family but the over acting in it was just awful. It completely ruined it. It was a real shame.
Hero Fiennes was barely in it. Still it would have been acceptable if the acting wasn't so overtly odd. The main characters were constantly at each others throats in quite an agressive way. It did not give you that warm fuzzy feeling inside.
I struggled to watch it all the way through the first time. I won't be watching it again. I know the actors are good. So it must be bad directing. Costumes and design were great, music was fun! Could have been good..... but it was sadly pretty awful.

It's seems so sadly wasted! The story telling is a bit clunky as the writing is lacking in freshness. Maybe the fault is in the editing or the directing, but this film is really lacking in oomph! It's like hoping for a delicious piece of chocolate cake and having to make do with a biscuit.
The group of actors that have come together is inspiring, and they could have been so wonderfully utilised. They are all so talented and could have added a real champagne sparkle to this project.
The locations are also great as they show off lovely pockets of London.
I'm sorry to say that this film lacks in sparkle, charm and romance, as the leads have little or no chemistry. Some of the supporting cast are wasted, Sindhu Vee and Adil Ray in particular. These two talents are not shown to their best advantage; such a shame.
All in all, not a good rom-com.

This film felt like it was made by someone who has never met an Indian. The cultural references are so dated and generally off, I'm surprised multiple people green lit this for release. We have Pia, the most selfish, unlikable character who doesn't have a single redeemable quality even till the end, and the leading man Charlie who's so bland there's nothing worth remembering about him. Pia and her sister's clothes are like they're dressing for Halloween with Indian costumes. The Bollywood dialogue Pia (Simone) tries to say is so poorly done that, as someone fluent in the language, I had to read the subtitles to understand what she was saying. I'm pretty sure the marketing team for the movie is suppressing videos making fun of this because there's no way more ppl aren't talking about that. The character Sid she's speaking to in that scene with the butchered Bollywood dialogue has such a forced Indian accent, it's borderline offensive. They make a mockery of an Indian priest and traditions and, for me, the most far fetched plot point is how little Pia seems to be involved in her sister's wedding! Have none of the cast and crew ever met an Indian? She turned up at her sister's pre-wedding events like she was a guest and in not a single event she helped set up or even knew what was happening! That is not how Indian weddings work lol unless you're estranged in which case you don't show up at all. Overall, very poorly done. I had higher expectations and this was a complete let down. I hope Simone does better in the future.
