Clorofilla

I had the pleasure of watching Clorofilla at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and was charmed by Gloria's delicate hand at this magical realist coming-of-age story. The immersive aspect of the film, as well as the dream-like visuals and stunning colour grade make you want to jump inside the world of orange picking, rural pub houses and the low hum of cicadas in the moonlight. The characterisation of both protagonists was very unique but what really stood out to me was what the actors brought to the roles and the relationships - a certain serenity infrequently found in fantasy narratives. Would love to see this film get more recognition and coverage, especially as it stands apart from the often pessimistic dramas released this year. Clorofilla is a breath of fresh air.
