Unfair to define it. A father, in New York, listening to his daughter voicemails. His walk , the drawings, presumed works of girl, a bitter- sad night in appartment, the voice of girl as a sort of guide of wishes, plans, locations.

Not many details.

In fact, no story, only few clues . But the precious gift remains the atmosphere , a special state, sustained by music , a sort of melancholia and the fair performance of Ed Trucco in this profound touching portrait of fatherhood , from regrets to memories and the feelings about presumed too late and try to fix it in a form or other.

For many reasons, a great film .

Distancia is a beautiful short film in New York during the lockdown where the main character is listening to his daughter's voicemails. He doesn't have any dialogue. It's a journey through New York as she describes what she wants to see when she gets there and how excited she is. The stunning cinematography and the emptiness of the city was hauntingly beautiful. I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen and wondered what was going to happen next.

I know many can relate if they have a loved one so far away. You want to keep a human connection but missing the closeness makes it difficult. Beautiful film with even more beautiful look at NYC.
