Truth be told, then I harbored zero expectations to the movie as I sat down to watch it. The fact that it was a TV thriller and the movie's cover just wasn't really installing a sense of great expectations. But I still opted to check it out, as it was a movie that I hadn't heard about, nor seen before.
Writer Donna Hoke put together a rather generic script. The narrative was pretty straightforward, but also very formulaic and predictable. If you've seen one TV thriller of this kind, then you pretty much know what you are getting here, because writer Donna Hoke played it safe and bet on all the standard TV thriller tropes.
I was not familiar with a single actress or actor on the cast list, which was actually something that spoke in favor of the movie, as I enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen. The acting performances in the movie were fair, but nothing outstanding really.
If this movie is actually titled "Deadly Wives Club", then I wonder why the release I found was titled "Death in the Cul-De-Sac".
Hardly a movie that warrants more than a single viewing. And it does require you to have an interest in these generic type of TV thrillers to fully enjoy this movie.
My rating of director David I. Strasser's 2024 TV movie thriller lands on a four out of ten stars.

I love this movie! It had me engaged right from the beginning! The characters were well-crafted and felt like real people with great dialogue. And the plot!! I gasped aloud so many times, and the commercial breaks went so fast because my friends and I were discussing who we thought was behind what, their potential motivations, and how much we loved individual moments. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and never able to quite guess how it was going to turn out, which is my favorite kind of thriller! I highly recommend this movie--even for repeat viewings, as I'm sure there are clues I'll catch the second time around that I missed the first! =

It was great 'girls night out' movie to watch together. We got our munchies and our cocktails ready and had such a good time trying to figure out 'who dunnit'. We kept trying to figure out who was sincere and who was nasty, who was sleeping with who, which kid belonged to which parents! The actors were all perfect for their roles and the storyline kept us wondering until the end. We thought we had it figured out but not all of us did, which was another reason why we enjoyed it. It's no fun when you know the ending of a movie right at the start. That said, I'm so glad I don't live in their neighborhood!
I gave up watching this sorry excuse of a movie about half-way through. The leader of the deadly wives was some middle-aged busybody, who just liked to interfere in people's lives for her own ends. With the budget these TV movies cost to make, one might think the writers, producers and directors could come up with a new twist, but no. It's the same old boilerplate stuff churned out as if by rote. I really look forward in the evenings to relax to a riveting movie, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to find something to watch. Maybe this is what constantly drives me to YouTube instead, as there are quite a number of entertaining movies there for free.
Twisty-turny in all the right places! Excellent cast, heartfelt story and relatable characters. I love watching characters discover, suspect and accuse right along with me as I watch. I also love it when I'm inclined to yell at the TV for the choices they're making because the story is compelling. The cast of characters reminded me of different people I personally know, which is so fun, and which made me lean into the story even more. This particular plot is refreshing because it goes deeper than usual into the important relationships women carve while remaining an edge of your seat thriller. I'll be watching it again!
