In season 11, Tim Gunn's role was expanded from "Mentor" to "Co-host/Mentor," and in season 12, he gets even more responsibilities. Gunn now joins the judge panel at each's runway show (but he doesn't judge) and after the judges pick each week's top three and bottom three contestants, Gunn then brings out the six models wearing those looks so he and the actual judges can examine the work up close. This is also the first season the show introduced the "Tim Gunn Rescue" (later called the "Tim Gunn Save") where Gunn has one opportunity per season to save a designer who the judges have eliminated.
