In mere minutes, With Love, Charlie takes us on a full emotional, psychological and visceral journey of the human cost of war. It strikes me as a perfect film. Visually it is stunning and historically accurate, a remarkable achievement for a short film. During our current moment in history, it's a reflection of how it is the best of humans, on both sides of a war, who suffer at the behest of so few men who are safe in their towers, and in the hands of those on the ground who become immune to the sickness of their allotted power. And the film beautifully honours the women who carry the emotional and practical weight of the carnage and generational damage. A heartbreaking film.
