Prison Brides

This genre is a spreading infection globally. There is no way these women are not broken or raised in a dysfunctional fashion. Why oh why focus on the men with the bleakest future and inept coping skills? The women also appear to share a bone crushing low self esteem and often inability to discern who has empathy, a strong character and trustworthiness.

It's sad, unproductive, and degrading to watch the train wrecks happen. Just look at Michael. He has no emotional control/intelligence. He has become obese, aged poorly, and cannot hold a decent conversation with "the woman of his dreams." Others will most likely con and dump their women. Not all of these people are at all worthless, but the odds of success are abysmal. I do wish them all the luck.

What an interesting premise for a show. Not only are these women committed to men in prison, but they're also from abroad. They have to navigate long distance and moving to a new country, getting a new job, dealing with their significant other navigate life outside of prison... Every week I come back trying to understand what pulls these women to want to continue dating these men. I surmise that they like the full attention that they receive that soon wanes once the men leave prison. I'm keen to find out how these relationships pan out. Of course, I'm rooting for them but also scared and certain that they won't work oit.

This a fascinating documentary/reality show about women who become pen pals with men in prison and through the process fall in love. There are some common threads connecting all the stories. Women were going through some rough patch in life and needed a person to talk to, with complete honesty and transparency. What I assume is that they found men who, closed from the usual life in the open world, focused on their inner self and were able to be more open with their thoughts and feelings. This created a bond that was missing in normal relationships. In some way this reminds of another show called "Love is blind". What remains to be seen, how will things change once they start living together, under the pressure of the real world.

Not sure where to start. Granted I am only on episode one but I cant help but feel a little sad for these women. In my opinion they seem to have some issues of their own. I wonder if perhaps they should seek therapy before they embark on these major life changes. And why do they have to communicate with US jailbirds? Do their own Countries not have incarcerated men looking for love??

I may be much older and perhaps jaded but I dont see any one of these "relationships" working out. Of course the men provide them with the most attention they have ever received but once they are out of jail will this be the case???

I just hope all of the women are safe and nothing bad happens to them. I may edit this once I watch the rest of the episodes but I dont see changing my mind/assumptions about these men.

Edit to add: Okay I have to say that Michael is kind of adorable. Erin seems a little crazy and unstable but out of all of the "couples" I think they have the best fighting chance.
