I really enjoyed the series, and it's quite underrated. Don't let the first half hour put you off, but just go with the flow and enjoy it. It gets more and more exciting, and the tension and psychotic sociopathy reach levels I never expected. It's almost like indulging in a sinful pleasure.
I also really enjoyed the music, and the cinematography and scenes in Greece are wonderful.
Anyway... I hope my review helps those who haven't seen it. Give it a chance if you like psychopathic thrillers where the tension slowly builds, and which also offer some important messages and lessons.
Don't expect fireworks, but again.... it is for sure worth watching! !

First off Jack Whitehall KILLS this show. His acting is TERRIBLE! If they used someone or ANYONE else it definitely would have been better. Well besides his acting. The show is just not believable. All these situations are not believable. He kills a person in broad daylight. With a neighbor seeing him and then taking a body again in broad daylight and puts it in the trunk of the car. Just RIDDICULOUS!! It needed better writing. But I would have started with a WAY BETTER ACTOR than Jack Whitehall he kills the show even more than the writers did!!! I mean who would be able to do the things he did and no one would notice. I know it's fiction but c'mon it's not even believable as fiction. Moving forward I know now I'll NEVER watch another show or movie with Jack Whitehall in it!!! He's just terrible!!

As has been said in another review, you'll know exactly the outcome of the series in the opening scene and that removes all the dramatic tension from the entire series. I kept watching because it was such a stupid opening move that I (wrongly) assumed they'd do something clever and subvert the device but no. It was just a stupid series, that started stupidly and kept on being stupid throughout. At one point a character works out the Manny is a baddie and promptly invites him into his house, alone and closes the door to his home, to common sense and to all credibility. It just kept getting dumber from there. In retrospect I hate watched it. There. I've said it.

I wanted to love "Malice." A vengeful tutor, a dysfunctional rich family, a sun-drenched Greek setting... what's not to like? Turns out, everything.
Jack Whitehall's Adam is less "chilling villain" and more "awkward dinner guest," his smirks undercut by a script that mistakes obviousness for suspense. David Duchovny's Jamie is the only one who seems to realize something's off, but even he can't salvage the slog.
The first three episodes are a masterclass in wasted potential: glacial pacing, laughable family dynamics, and a complete lack of tension. I bailed after Ep 3, but I would be shocked if the season ever recovers.
A cringefest. Skip it and rewatch The White Lotus or check out BBC's The Guest instead.

I guess props must go to his agent for really doubling down on helping Whitehall 'crack' the lucrative US market. I mean sure, he's the son of an incredibly successful talent manager and Americans love a posh Brit, but given his meagre talent as a performer - the sheer number of opportunities he's managed to land stateside are genuinely impressive.
Not a bad stand up, used to be pretty good earlier this century - but an almost implausibly bad actor, given his connections. Between this and the god awful, integrity-shaving big screen adaptation of Clifford the big red dog, his might already be the weakest cinematic oeuvre in Hollywood since Uwe Boll. Or maybe this is just the very best writing he can actually get cast in.
It was dreadful, truly - so dreadful I couldn't get past the 3rd episode. I thought I'd get RSI from eye rolling so much. No shame in Whitehall for doing it, we've all gotta work - but this is about his level whereas Duchovny is shamefully belittling himself with this tripe.
Don't waste your time.

We thought this was great on so many levels. I cannot relate to any of the negative reviews regarding acting or plot issues. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Yes, there were disturbing factors, but that is true in life as well, unfortunately. There were also great lessons to be learned, definitely a cautionary tale.

Just a really bad watch. Weak script and even weaker acting. Jack Whitehall is not a serious or dramatic actor and the casting is a mystery to me. It reads like a school production and is generally poorly executed. I was fairly keen to watch this but half way through episode one I knew I was in for something less than mid.

People have vivid imaginations. Yes, we saw a CGI of a cat, and fake snake, and a dog trained to lie still, and that was it.
I love animals. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love animals, but I can separate reality from movie fiction. I note those worrying about animals didn't mention the black girl being poisoned. Just saying.
As for the series, I liked it. Yes it was full of implausibilities and impossibilities but I judge on entertainment value and it entertained me no end. I wondered how long it would take the family to suss onto the fact that all was not well and whodunnit. :D Some hated the ending. I liked it. Isn't it tiresome, endings that are predictable?

Malice sets out to be a dark, twist-filled series, but it quickly buckles under the weight of its own messy storytelling. The show is riddled with holes in both the storyline and the script-large, distracting gaps that make it hard to stay invested or even understand the motivations behind key events. Instead of feeling mysterious, the narrative just feels undercooked and inconsistently thought out.
Jack Whitehall's performance, unfortunately, does little to elevate things. His acting here is rigid and wooden, completely lacking the emotional range the role clearly demands. Scenes meant to carry tension or depth instead fall flat, leaving the viewer wondering whether the character is intentionally emotionless or simply miscast.
And if you somehow make it through the uneven pacing and disjointed writing, you're rewarded with an incredibly unsatisfying ending-one that feels abrupt, unearned, and strangely disconnected from what little build-up came before it. Rather than offering closure, it lands like the writers simply ran out of ideas.
Overall, Malice is a frustrating watch: a promising premise squandered by poor execution, hollow performances, and a finale that makes the whole journey feel pointless. Not recommended.

I genuinely cannot understand the negative reviews surrounding Malice, because for me this was a smart, gripping and consistently engaging mini-series from start to finish. In a television landscape filled with predictable plotlines and formulaic thrillers, Malice stands out as something much more refined: tense without being melodramatic, stylish without being pretentious, and character-driven without ever dragging. There was never a dull moment. Every episode carried just enough intrigue to pull you forward, yet never relied on cheap cliff-hangers or gimmicks.
The casting is a real strength. Every performer feels perfectly matched to their role, giving the characters a depth and complexity that make their shifting motivations genuinely compelling. Even the supporting cast are memorable, turning what could've been simple archetypes into multi-layered personalities. It reminded me tonally of March Point in the way it blends mystery with intimate character dynamics, but with the glossy, modern tension you'd expect from something like The White Lotus. At the same time, the psychological undertones and slightly sinister charm echo The Talented Mr Ripley-or in this case, Mr Riley-giving the story that addictive sense of "beautiful places hiding very ugly truths."
Visually, the series is stunning. The setting itself becomes a character, shaping the atmosphere and amplifying the unease. The pacing also deserves praise: it is tight, deliberate, and always purposeful. Not once did I feel the story meander or lose focus. If anything, it left me wanting more episodes, not fewer.
Ultimately, Malice succeeds because it respects its audience. It assumes you're paying attention, offers layered storytelling, and rewards you with twists that feel earned rather than forced. If you enjoy elevated thrillers-especially ones blending psychological tension, mysterious relationships, and a premium cinematic feel-then Malice is absolutely worth your time. Ignore the poor reviews; this is a highly engaging mini-series that delivers exactly what the genre promises.

White lotus vibes but it's nothing to tell your friends about. The lead creepy babysitter isn't the man for the job.. he's supposed to be creepy and hot. He's not either and his acting seems off for the roll. But Duchovny is great! I was getting Californiacation vibes from Duchovny the first 10 minutes of the show.

Animal cruelty should be banned. Shoking.
Mega shame on you.
There was not even a warning and it wouldn't justify it in any case. How can animal cruelty be entertaining?
Skip this. Mega plot holes and predictable.
I have to continue writing but tbh there's much to add and waste my time in this....

That should not have even been released. I mean, come on. Like all the posts are saying it's true. Why all the animal cruelty? Couldn't have this been done without killing animals? Super weak. It was weak anyways, but then it became trash. I don't know why anyone would really watch this. Garbage. Save your time.

MALICE, like THE WHITE LOTUS is built around beautiful locations with vapid, callous, irresponsible too too rich people. In today's world, this is less and less entertaining to me.
The acting is excellent with Jack Whitehall being the standout.
But, like most streaming shows, could have been told in 3-4 episodes. The tension wore thin about halfway there.

Some real lazy writing for this show. Seems like the writer's intent was to annoy the viewers right up to the ending which provides no redemption or morality. What a complete garbage show and waste of time. The writers should go back to writing TV commercials. David Duchovny was excellent in this show, Jack Whitehall's performance was lazy.

At first glance, this looked interesting, but as several people have stated, you know what's going to happen in the first 15 minutes. The acting wasn't great, but to be fair, the actors didn't have a lot to work with.
The scenery was fabulous, great location. There's a wedding that is a complete joy to watch. It gave a White Lotus vibe, but this series is NO White Lotus.
I was so disappointed with the ending. I kept thinking there would be some big twist and it would justify the hours I spent watching this, but no.
I would not recommend this series.

Acting is decent enough, but so far fetched, lazy story telling, I just wouldn't bother. So many holes in the plot, very unbelievable, shame as I really wanted to like it. Nice scenery when they're in Greece, but the actual story is so thin you are wasting your time and energy when there are better tv shows out there,

One of those shows I wanted to like and started off overall positive. It quickly becomes a jumbled mess of unbelievable plot holes.
I think the main character is very poorly done as well.. They didn't really capture what they wanted to, instead they sort of use 'cringe'. He doesn't capture the psychopath character very well, because he presents as outwardly creepy and zero redeeming qualities. They sort of try to rage bait you into disliking him by making him fairly uncharismatic and everyone around him fawns over him for exactly no reason. He doesn't come across as particularly good looking, charming, intelligent etc etc. (charismatic?) but everyone who interacts wit him acts like his all of those things. He just lets out the creepiest lines whenever the most out of place time is, and nobody seems the wiser.
There are so many 'massive red flag ignored scenarios' in this show to be acceptable or ignorable. Its like it was written by a scream director (dont go in that door!).
