(THIS IS A SPOOF MOVIE) Dumb AF And I Love It
DO NOT go into this movie expecting a serious family drama, this is a SPOOF MOVIE in disguise!
This movie is along the lines of Scary Movie, and Naked Gun where random shiz happens with the intention of being so stupid it's funny. If anything, this pokes fun of family road trip movies gone wrong.
At first I thought this was going to be your average family movie, then something strange began to happen, I started laughing. The slapstick hit me like a fricking truck and I wasn't expecting it.
It does stagger towards the end and loses a bit of its magic, but those moments in the first half makes it worth the watch.
Also Joe Mitacek deserves a raise for the editing. Yes, it can get a bit dizzying at some moments (only the first half), but the forced zoom ins, the stupid stock screams, the fricking cars drifting, this guy knows what he's doing. Straight up the editing adds to the comedy.
Off topic: but why does Lucas look like a clone of Zachary Gordon.

What if Reacher was written by drunks
I had a lot of fun with this one. It really feels like a bunch of Reacher fans got drunk and started one-upping each other before deciding to actually make the film. It's fast-paced for the most part, though the pacing is a hit and miss at times. Plot holes are rampant, the humor is low brow, but somehow it works. I've watched it with my wife who usually doesn't like movies like this one and she had a blast.
Fun enough streaming movie
Playdate (2025) is an action buddy comedy movie on Prime Video and it follows a stay-at-home dad accepting a playdate invitation from another stay-at-home dad who turns out to be a loose cannon. I just got done watching the movie and it was really fun.
Positives for Playdate (2025): This movie is exactly what you're getting from a streaming movie. Alan Ritchson and Kevin James are a fun duo and they bounce off each other very well. The comedy and action is done very well. The movie moves at quick pace that is easy to keep up with. And finally, this is a good hangout movie to watch at home on the weekend.
Negatives for Playdate (2025): This movie has a basic enough story that is predictable from the start. The villains aren't interesting and they're not cartoonish. The movie is also basically background noise for other activities that you could be doing. And finally, the movie doesn't have any standout moments to make it memorable.
Overall, Playdate (2025) is a fun enough but standard streaming action comedy movie that gets the job done.

Who knew.
Well it is definitive Alan Ritchson can do comedy.
I feel the movie made poor use of an amazing cast but end of the day, it was funny and kept my attention for the whole movie which is pretty unusual for modern movies.
Ritchson utterly carried this this movie, with brief moments with other actors which acted the best they could with a limited script, but they were all funny.
Worth watching.

Surprisingly funny
This is why comedies aren't made anymore because when they do make a good one people just hate on it. It has dark humor, which we never get to see anymore. I can't stand Kevin James but I liked him much better as the straight man. Alan Ritchson killed it. They actually worked well together. I was scream laughing when he fought the kid at the park. I did not expect anything and really enjoyed it. People are so bitter and miserable all they do is go online hating on every book, game, movie, show, recipe or video. Look how bad cult classics did at first every time. Don't listen to the immediate bad reviews, they are seldom right.
