A Strange House

The book is amazing-well-paced, immersive, and a surprisingly quick read that delivers a powerful experience. Choosing to skip it in favor of the movie is a mistake. The film not only fails to capture the depth and nuance of the source material but actively undermines it with bizarre pacing decisions and unnecessary deviations.

While adaptations often take creative liberties, here the changes serve no clear purpose and lead to no meaningful payoff. It feels disjointed and hollow, lacking the emotional and thematic weight that made the book compelling. Frankly, the movie doesn't just pale in comparison-it feels like a complete misfire.

Not only does it fail to do justice to the original, but it also fails as a standalone work. A true waste of time.

I don't understand why it was made into a movie.

The story progresses based solely on wild speculation, with slight inconsistencies, yet somehow it becomes accepted as truth. It's not a plot worthy of a movie adaptation. It shows the decline of the Japanese film industry.

The cultural decline of the film industry is not a new phenomenon, but it seems to have fallen so low that they have to turn internet videos into movies.
