The iMom

Going back to the Twilight Zone and beyond, we have had presentations of robots raising children. Here, we are introduced to a society of young adults who want children but want nothing to do with them--hence, the iMom. This is a subtle view of what happens when we lose sight of these "creatures" being machines, programmed in certain ways. This film leaves a lump in the stomach. It has a lesson for all of us.

I don't know what shorts it was up against for the AACTA Awards, but it's likely this short should have won. Impressed

The final is predictable from the first part. the dialogue between boy and his special nanny represents the essence of film. the fake testimonies are the frame for this warning. about parenthood meaning. about public image. about the choice. changing everything. this film has not a precise genre apart. and that is a good thing. because , ignoring the few not real inspired scenes, the film works. more than many other Sci Fi short films. as precise diagnosis. for the fear who grows up near us.
