Really entertaining
I loved the movie. I thought it was so funny and the romance between the main characters was very captivating.
I miss these kinds of simply funny rom-coms.
The famous actor with the normal woman that just wants to get her life in order but love just gets in the way.
I would watch a sequel, that's how much I liked it.

The story predictable
I was excited to watching this movie but the story become boring. The story is predictable , famous and rich actor met with average women. Starts as flings but then fall in love, some misunderstanding and back together.. I don't really like Omar Sy character in here, childish soul trap in big man body. I really love his acting and his other movies but not this one.
Entertaining, funny and dramatic
I loved this movie. It was funny, held elements of reality ie being star struck by someone famous and the script also made you wonder if the relationship could really work. It had themes about friendship, self worth, what really brings you fulfillment and the importance of pursuing your own goals in a relationship. The timing for the storyline was just right and it flowed. It was quirky and not too Hollywood. I would definitley recommend this for a watch. I didn't know what to expect and I really enjoyed it!
A classic recipe but failed to shine.
French Lover tries to be a tragic rom-com, but ends up feeling like a recycled "classic": the hot, famous actor who falls for the girl next door. Every beat of the dialogue is predictable, offering nothing new.
Omar Sy plays the successful star who supposedly rose from nothing, but his character is reduced to spoiled-rich-kid tantrums, with little depth or authenticity. It's a shame, because Sy has the talent for stronger material. Sara Giraudeau, in her first performance I've seen, doesn't leave much of an impression either. Even the cooking scenes-which should have shown her passion for starting a food truck-fall flat and lack energy. And while I get that people love their pets, the missing-dog subplot is unnecessarily exaggerated.
I genuinely wish Omar Sy would choose scripts worthy of his range, because this one was simply not it.
If you're after something easy, light, and completely forgettable-a no-brainer way to kill two hours-this film might work. Paris as a backdrop is always a treat, though even the cinematography disappoints here. Otherwise, I'd say don't bother.

Less French & More Hollywood
I was really looking forward to seeing this, The French handle romance in a different way to the Americans, except in this romcom. It has Omar Sy as the ML, who has done some interesting roles in the past, but this isn't one.
This was a predictable plot. Famous actor meets down-on-her-luck 'average' woman & she helps to show him the real values of life. It's that corny. This ML was supposed to have grown up poor, but exhibits all the tantrums of a spoilt brat. The FL is too unbelievable in her appeal not because she is average, but because of her demeanor.
I enjoyed the scenes of Paris. I enjoyed the dog.
Hopefully, Omar learns to not to succumb to the paycheck & to stick to the quirkier roles.

¿Sabías que...?
- CuriosidadesThe film's opening sequence, a faux commercial for the "French Lover" fragrance starring Omar Sy, is a direct parody of Isaiah Mustafa's famous Old Spice advertisements.
- PifiasWhen Abel pulls up beside Marion after she quits her waitress job, the rear passenger-side wing window is visibly open. In the following shot, both rear wing windows are suddenly closed.
