Separate from Jim Powers' classic (and innovative) "Perverted Stories" series is this more pretentious and humorless companion video "A Diary of a Pervert". It's been missing from IMDb for almost 30 years, added by me today.

It's styled more like an underground movie than porn film, with even the credit reading "Documented by Jim Powers" rather than the usual director credit. We get to watch Dave Hardman masturbate throughtout the show, watching VHS porn videos that are in fact original new material shot by Powers rather than a compilation.

Other than a sequence where Nicole Lace and Tera Heart visit his house as girls selling magazine subscriptions door-to-door it's merely a morbid peek at hermit-like Dave living up to the title. Even Brittany O'Connell, usually a bright spot in so many videos of the era, is reduced to a sleazy gonzo performer in this context. Overall, it merely demonstrates how important the outre humor of the "Perverted Stories" series was crucial to those videos' success.
