Let's Go Bathing!

Various stars of stage and screen -- as the titles note -- appear in this four-minute short. What they are doing is showing off the clothes that people will wear at the beach. The purpose is to raise money for a hospital.

Not that's why I looked at it. I watched it because the direction is credited to Alfred Hitchcock, one of the greatest directors in film history. This, however, was still early in his career, when he was working for a studio that could tell him off to handle an anonymous short like this. He would not be able to say no to these things until after the Second World War.

All of which is probably why it looks like an anonymous, average short subject.
