Com as Próprias Mãos

A dark and violent story about making justice with own hands, the short was a student film made by Universidade São Judas and I must say that despite the simplicity of it all, it's actually a quite thrilling and well-made piece. It's an unflinching and nervous thriller revolving a man being kidnapped and tortured by two mysterious men who claim that the man was responsible for some deaths, of which he denies again and again, but deep down those dangerous man know something more and maybe another crime it's what's being thrown on the allegedly innocent man. Through a series of quick flashbacks, we discover exactly what happened and that's where the danger becomes more and more threatning.

It's a little predictable but nonetheless highly effective, and at the end of it all there's even a disclaimer about the message of it which echoes through life and the twisted reality of justice and revenge as done by people who feel the need for such actions when authorities fail in taking action or giving a proper response to violence and crime.

The acting is very convincing and greatly done, especially if we consider they're all newcomers, and the whole crew made a great job if we consider the many limitations student films have with budget and props - the bloody makeup on the "victim" was terrifying and effective. 7/10.
