A rare romance that incorporates time travel and love, and it really works.

I remember reading a novel 30 years ago about a mirror and people who pass through it. This film has a similar type of mirror, and it reminds me of that fantasy novel for some reason, even though the novel was not particularly a whimsical romance, as it was a fantasy adventure with villains and magic.

This is the tale of a woman in the present, who is sent from America to Europe to purchase a centuries-old manor for a large real estate corporation. In the process of appraising the huge estate, she stumbles on a magical mirror, that can peer into the past. She sees a man from the 18th century who can see her from his side as well.

This is a love story that bridges time and culture. The plot becomes predictable at this point. Will he come to live in the future or will she jump into the past?

What is so wonderful about this film is that the chemistry is off the charts and the characters are endearing. Every aspect of the film is extraordinary, including the music, lighting, scenery and, of course, the romance.

Must see this every other year!

This was cute and pretty predictable, but I ended up enjoying it. It takes place in Britain at a huge manor house from the late 16th century. The heroine has come from America to tour properties owned by a bank back in the states-in order to sell or auction them off. She goes to stay at one that she immediately falls in love with. While wandering around the basement she's met with a man in period clothing on the other side of a large mirror. The unreal part was how accepting the characters were of this part. Just not realistic. I get it, they only have so much time, but it just seemed too easy. When he comes through the mirror the story takes off. I've watched many movies about time travel and read way too many books featuring it so I can say this was right in line with most movies like this. I really enjoyed the man's character and the actor. The woman's character wasn't bad, but I didn't feel a whole lot of chemistry between the two. Still, as I said, it was cute and enjoyable and I'm glad I took the time to watch. Oh, and another thing I enjoyed was the caretaker's character. Now, he was quirky!

But oddly, this works in the film's favor. He embodies the kind of down-to-earth charm that makes him instantly likable, and I found myself rooting for him throughout the film. His interactions with the other characters, especially Quinn, added a nice dynamic to the movie, giving it an extra layer of fun and entertainment.

Quinn, in particular, is another standout character. While Charles is my favorite, Quinn also brought a lot to the table in terms of making the movie much more engaging and fun to watch. His energy and sense of humor injected the film with a lightheartedness that made it much more enjoyable. His comedic timing was spot on, and he provided some of the film's most entertaining moments. The dynamic between Charles and Quinn is one of the movie's highlights, and it's clear that the actors had great chemistry together. Their back-and-forth created a natural flow to the story, making it feel effortless and fun.

On the other hand, Chelsea's character, while still enjoyable, could have been a bit more dynamic. At times, she felt a bit flat, and I found myself wishing for a little more energy or spark from her. While the actress did a fine job, there were moments when I thought she could have added a bit more depth or excitement to her performance. She had the potential to be a more fun character, but at times, she just didn't bring that extra layer to make her stand out as much as the other characters. Despite this, I still enjoyed watching her and thought she brought a nice balance to the group.

Overall, the movie is a nice watch. It's simple, lighthearted, and offers a break from the more intense, high-stakes films that often dominate the screen. While it's not a cinematic masterpiece, it's a pleasant and enjoyable film that's perfect for a laid-back viewing experience. The characters are lovable, the story is easy to follow, and it doesn't require you to think too much, which is exactly what makes it so charming. If you're looking for a movie that's not going to challenge your intellect or leave you emotionally drained, this one is a great option. It's the kind of film that's perfect for those moments when all you need is a fun and relaxing escape. The simplicity and charm are what make it a hidden gem, and it offers the kind of viewing experience that leaves you feeling uplifted and content.

I like Aubrey Reynolds as an actress, she never seems like she is "acting", she doesn't seem like she is delivering lines. She always seems like she is just responding to the situation, as it should be. Also she doesn't wear much eye makeup and that helps her look beautiful, not artificial.

Here she is Chelsea Grayson, working for a USA firm that owns a very old English mansion that has fallen somewhat in disrepair. She travels there to facilitate a sale, the thought being it would be sold to ether tear down or be converted into some different type of property.

To save money her firm decides she will stay there for a few days instead of a hotel. She is warned, don't go into the basement, some say it is haunted. Being the curious type she goes anyway and sees a floor length mirror, it has a faint blue glow, and in the mirror she sees what looks like a nobleman from a different era. Like from 1799.

She meets the man in the mirror, Toby-Alexander Smith as Charles Barkley V. The script even has a few jokes about the USA basketball player of the same name. The story gets a bit more complex from then on but the two of them eventually start working on a plan to save the old mansion. It even involves an investment idea and a trick borrowed from BTTF 3 where Doc Brown writes a letter from the 1800s to be delivered to Marty in current time.

All in all a superior movie of this genre, very well made and entertaining. My wife and I watched it at home, streaming on Prime.

I stumbled across Love Across Time on Amazon Prime and, yeah, total chick flick-but a cute one. It felt like a Hallmark movie that somehow wandered onto Amazon instead. The plot had all the cozy, predictable beats: small-town charm, mild time-travel twist, and just enough sappy dialogue to keep it sweet without being too over-the-top.

You can tell it was written with the Hallmark Channel in mind-it's wholesome, light, and wraps everything up with a neat little bow. Nothing groundbreaking, but sometimes that's exactly what you want after a long day.

If you're in the mood for something feel-good with a bit of heart and don't mind a little cheesy romance, this one's worth the watch.
