Stumbling upon writer and director Frank Palangi's 2025 movie "American Psychopath" by random chance, I did indeed opt to watch it solely because it was a horror movie that I hadn't already seen. And I do love all things horror.
But since I had never heard about this movie, I virtually didn't know what I was in for, aside from what meager information the synopsis provided. And thus, I really didn't harbor any expectations to the movie, sitting down to watch it with an open mind.
Now, I have to say that movies that are written by, directed by and starring one and the same person usually tends to be questionable affairs. And as it turned out, "American Psychopath" was written by, directed by and also had Frank Palangi on the cast list. So yeah, that didn't bode well for the movie.
The storyline in the movie was not particularly captivating, and I have to admit that I sort of tuned out about one-third through the 60 minute runtime. There just simply wasn't anything interesting or thrilling happening on the screen. And that made sitting through "American Psychopath" quite a struggle.
Needless to say that I was not familiar with a single actress or actor on the cast list, which was actually something that spoke in favor of the movie. The acting performances in the movie weren't exactly outstanding, let's just leave it at that.
The movie looks like a film class movie project, especially the brutal editing and cutting.
My rating of writer and director Frank Palangi's 2025 movie "American Psychopath" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.

This is the first time I'll give an overall opinion on a movie that doesn't usually make me disinterested, but this movie was a shock. It's really far from being a crime or horror, it's turned into a comedy. The script is bad and the directing is even worse. The acting is a disaster. Even though I'm far from this field, I do a better job than this. If you watch this movie, you will waste an hour of your life and then another hour of regret.
