North: An Epic Journey of Friendship

Watched this with my little sister, it had an amazing story and characters. Lily was my sisters favourite. My favourite thing about the movie was the amazingly animated nordic landscapes and the modern take on the classic tale Snow Queen. Very much an exciting, traditional, family friendly christmas fantasy.

I went to the cinema with 3 other people. We all liked Reisen mot nord. First of all the script is good seeing it's based on H. C Andersen. I never felt the movie had an agenda besides telling a good story. That's important these days.

Furthermore the characters are very likable. They are lovely and heart warming and brave and give us lots of feelings throughout the movie. The evil witch is also a good character. She is laughable, but we clearly understand that she is very evil underneath her antics.

I loved the many animals in the story who help the heroine fight the good cause. They added a lot of warmth to the movie. Great how the script picks nice things from Christianity, like a guardian angel sent from Heaven to help the heroine, to showing us how beatiful the animistic beliefs of the sami people are for example through an old sami woman protecting the girl from the magic of the snow witch by chanting and making a potent sami folk medicine brew for her to drink.

Lastly I liked the animation and the music.

Absolutely worth watching!

The film centers on a villain coded as a "trans-queen-type" character who abducts young boys, wrapped in heavy-handed Christian conservative messaging. The animation looks two decades out of date, and the story keeps derailing into pointless side plots. Overall it's a baffling, clumsy, and frankly terrible movie - even for viewers who might normally vibe with its politics.

My family really enjoyed the movie. All of the actors in the movie were really good, especially the girl who played Lily done a cracking job. Animated family fun. Really hard to find movies that the whole family can enjoy, I would really recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy an evening with their family.
