Mystery Island: Winner Takes All

Conceptually, I like the forensic psychologist and detective teaming up to write mystery game plots for mystery island. I like the idea of the two having a romantic spark even though they live in two different countries. I also like the tropical setting of mystery island and it's gorgeous resort.

The two winners of a mystery contest puzzle with their guests and a celebrity crime writer named Cassandra Cornwall are invited for a week and a special mystery murder game on mystery island...only things go haywire right away.

Emilia and Jason go undercover as staff for the week and the Baroness Janey Alcott's guest is a paid actor named James. Emilia catches Frederick talking to both the guest (Aunt Louise) of one of the puzzle winners and the mystery writer CC. James makes his signature drink, the Paloma, for everyone in the game room...including a virgin one for the underage podcaster. James begins to choke as an unplanned explosion occurs...resulting in the death of house manager Fredericks.

Now with a real mystery a foot, Emilia and Jason go to work, with a little interference from the NYPD guest and a few of the others.

The mystery was decent...but I am not loving the awkwardness between Emilia and Jason on the Roman e front. Not yet a recommendation for me, although I loved seeing Kristen Booth as the mystery writer CC Cassandra Cornwall.

I was really excited to see a new Hallmark mystery, especially one with the "And Then There Were None" trope, a favorite of mine.

The cast was uh, very static. No one had any character except for the first victim.

It didn't bother me that there wasn't any romance, but a little chemistry would have been nice.

The locale was beautiful but no one really seemed to enjoy the luxurious settings at all? They may has well been trudging around in a cornfield?

I didn't even realize this was a sequel until reading another review, but not sure if I will watch the first one, unless I need to fall asleep.

Glad everyone got a paycheck though and I hope the writers do better next time.

Mystery Island Loser!! Would have been an appropriate title. What is going on with Hallmark Movies & Mysteries?? They need help because this movie should not have been made. It was awful and a big waste of time and money. This movie needed better writers, a script that made sense, that you could follow and quality actors. Hallmark, you need to do better! Save yourself and skip this movie.

It is sad to see Hallmark Movie & Mysteries a beloved channel become this sad waste of bad movies.

All I can really say about this movie -- it is really bad and please don't waste your precious time on this junk. I miss the old Hallmark Mystery Series at least they were good and the movies was made with common sense & decent actors. Again, don't waste your time and skip this movie.
