Not My Family: The Monique Smith Story

Yaya Decosta is brilliant in this movie as always. This is based on a true story of Monique Smith's search for her real family. This movie can be difficult to watch at parts, dealing with abuse and violence. The acting was top notch. Particularly, Yaya's character. She is obviously beautiful, but she is such an amazing actress. I remember her on Americas next top model. I love that she has been on so many great shows and movies. This is her best performance. I wish she could win an award for this! The actress who played her mother in this was also amazing!! Just a well acted cast all around.

I felt her pain, determination and finally joy throughout the film. I am an avid lifetime movies watcher. This is my favorite film from Lifetime in awhile. Its one I will watch again. I highly recommend.
