The Man with the Black Umbrella

Acting wasn't great, The police woman was like watching a piece of wood. The main guy was hammy but portrayed fear pretty well at the end. Speaking of the ending, it dragged on too much. The film could have been done in an hour, but it kept my attention fairly well. As found footage goes, it was a lot better than the borefest The Blair Witch Project. Not a bad effort, pretty fair, but not great.

This honestly could've stayed in the drafts but if it needed to be made it should've ended 30 minutes before it actually did. You're stuck watching the lead run for 30 whole minutes and make stupid decisions and doing stupid things. It feels like a play on the men in black conspiracy. What a bore and the sad part is it's the average length of a movie.

In an effort to promote his movie, the filmmaker SPAMMED message boards/subreddits by way of posts and comments, thereby alienating potential viewers. When he was asked to stop spamming, he attacked users, saying they all wanted to see him fail. When people asked him to chill out, he responded with more self promotion. When mods stepped in, he cried "conspiracy," saying he was the one trying to save the "dying" found footage genre.

The positive reviews on here are not legit. You can contrast them to real reviews on Reddit. If you look at the poster, you'll find that all the quotes about the film are left by randos with no mainstream credibility.

Perhaps all the negativity the filmmaker received was enough to get eyes on the actual film.

I fell for the hype on social media and gathered my family for our "scary movie night"... guys this acting was so terrible. Think low budget, home-made porn level acting. Don't believe the positive reviews, the creator probably got his friends to come on here and do them. This was the worst movie I've seen in years and I want a refund.. I've seen better films made by highschoolers. My 9 year old even said "These actors are not very good". Don't waste your time and definitely don't pay for it.

As fans of found footage style movies...we all know most of them are not cinematic masterpieces but this one definitely missed the mark. The story was good but there was zero effort in the acting. The lead was terrible and had no chemistry with the other actors. Just felt forced and fake, monotone. Like people rehersing lines.

Is it worth a watch? For sure but all the hype about it was for naught.
