Reseña destacada
This biopic tells the inspiring true story of a young gymnast who, after a serious car accident, struggles with injuries to realize her dream of a career in professional sports.
It is a mixture of a sports and a dance movie, as it is a hip hop dance group that gives the young girl back her self-confidence and also a new passion.
In many ways it feels like a teen movie, both in the character drawing and in some of the storylines and visual style. It's hard to judge how close the plot is to reality, but the presence of some real people in the movie suggests that the portrayal is authentic.
Overall, the movie is not a "game changer" and features some already familiar elements from other sports and dance movies and remains predictable in many ways. Nevertheless, it has the potential to inspire people and carries a beautiful message that many people could benefit from. The story is definitely encouraging. If some children are motivated by this movie to work on what they want to achieve despite all the difficulties, then it definitely has a right to exist.
The script and direction are solid. The film lives above all from its gripping story, the impressive dance and gymnastics interludes and the always appropriate, rousing music, which pays particular attention to the dance scenes. The leading actors and most of the supporting cast bring the story to life. Ana Golja and Sarah Fisher are convincing in their roles, while the real Ariana and her trainer can be seen in guest appearances. The running time and the pace of the story are perfectly paced.
It is nice to see original footage of the people involved at the end of the movie with some information about them and their careers.
------------ Conclusion:
Quite good - An all-round feel-good movie with a nice message especially recommended for teenagers or as a family movie.
