This movie is another one of those feel good pictures you can't go wrong with. It's light and breezy like cruising the boulevard with the top down and it offers lots of laughs to boot.

Amy Heckerling has brought us another winner with a great supporting cast. A young teenage girl coming of age in of all places, Beverly Hills. The lead character, "Cher" played brilliantly by Alicia Silverstone, is a self centered high school girl in the beginning of the picture who's only interests include clothes, cars and credit cards. As the film progresses, she begins to mature and actually begins to care about other people, not to mention her environment. It's worth renting anytime. Just like "European Vacation" it doesn't matter how many times you see it, it still makes you laugh and that's worth it all.

If you're looking for an intricate plot line and riveting characters, this may not be the movie for you. However, if you want to have some laughs and come away from the t.v with a tongue and cheek feeling, by all means give "Career Opportunities" ninety minutes of your time. Frank Whaley plays the town liar and does a great job with the role. The scene with John Candy is classic!

In a way, you semi feel bad for this kid who takes a job as night clean-up boy in a department store. He's locked inside with nothing but roller skates, on occasional corn dog and some dust-busters for company. That's until he meets up with "Josie" the stunning, Jennifer Connelly. The girl he knew in high school who never gave him the time of day. She's trapped along with Whaley after she "chickens-out" on a shoplifting scheme. Soon, the two are contemplating running away together. Mix in their budding romance, a bumbling town sheriff and two pathetic burglars, you have the recipe for a lot of smiles. I don't think John Hughes designed a "thinking" treatment around this movie. If you don't try and make sense out of it, you will enjoy it.
